About
We provide week-long tours plus daily ride outs for motorcyclists on holiday in Gran Canaria. We have devised a number of excellent motorcycle routes which will please the more experienced rider who is looking for a challenge in the mountains and on the hairpins. These rides are not for a novice rider! Take the hassle out of motorcycle hire and just arrive and ride with us on our own Honda bikes, including our 3 new NC750x. On our popular week long tours, we cater for those riders looking for more than the odd ride out. We can also accommodate motorcyclists looking for a full motorcycling holiday which can include a day Island hop over to Tenerife. Our tours include hotel, breakfast, fuel, bike & insurance, we can also provide jackets, helmets and gloves. Our 2 week - 4 Island Tour visits GC, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. We appreciate that travelling unfamiliar roads can seem daunting, so we guide you through your tour and ensure you enjoy yourself, have fun and stay safe.

I've just returned from a four day trip with Canary Motorcycle Tours and although I rarely leave reviews, I feel I need to let you know that this was simply superb in every respect.
Martin,Joy and Jose, the local guide, were not just helpful but made me feel like an old friend they had known for years! The professional setup, perfectly maintained bikes and the incredible friendliness were a great reminder that "old fashioned", personal service are what these guys are about.
The groups of riders are well matched and both Martin and Jose guide the rides at an appropriate pace without being prescriptive but with absolute safety in mind. I have ridden many thousands of miles all over Europe but this my first guided tour and what an introduction - it was simply stunning!
I chose to book my own accommodation but from talking to other riders the two hotels were great and located close to the office. My accommodation was approximately 15 minutes away and each morning Martin or Joy collected me and took me back each evening - above and beyond the call of duty.
I will go again as soon as I can and can only recommend this as a something you need to do if you are a competent, serious motorcyclist.
Thank you Martin, Joy and Jose for a trip I will never forget.
Kind regards
Lee

Youtube videos by the likes of Teapot one and The Missenden Flyer are great and they praise the tour as being wonderful, but..... nothing will prepare you for how epic this trip is. No video or photograph can capture the splendour of the scenery or the magnificence of the roads. I've done Picos, Pyrenees and quite a bit of Europe, I've never encountered endless twisties all day long from start to finish, for six days (I chose to ride on the rest day) as I did so on this trip. Martin and Joy are a joy (forgive the pun) to meet and to spend time with. Both Martin and Jose, the rider leaders are superb riders and fun characters. Martin is refreshingly, not a member of the woke brigade, so there's great biker type banter to be had at the morning, lunch and afternoon stops.
Speaking of stops, the cafes and restaurants that we visited were always friendly and reasonably priced, serving good quality food.
Our 4 star hotel was faultless with an excellent breakfast. A small issue with my bath was fixed within minutes of reporting it.
A minor incident on my last day involving another rider was dealt with very calmly, quickly and professionally by Martin and Joy, who also ensured that all the other riders were safe, which is reassuring.
The bikes they use are perfect for the roads that you'll encounter and are maintained to a high level.
Their website states in bold letters that this tour is not for the novice rider nor the faint hearted. Please heed this warning, some people clearly don't. The roads, which include innumerable hairpins, some quite narrow and steep, are challenging even for good riders and remember it's five days continuous riding, albeit you can chose not to ride on a particular day if you need to rest. That being said, I lapped up every minute of it and would go back in a heartbeat to do it all again!
I can't recommend Canary Motorcycle tours highly enough. If you're a decent rider and love good, twisty roads, you will not regret this tour, it will be one of, if not the, best, riding experience of your life. It will also sharpen the skills that you already have. Enjoy! And huge thanks to Joy and Martin for an unforgettable experience. Steve Jones

Being back home for 2 weeks has given me time to reflect on what was a brilliant time we had with CMT.
Right from the original email to Joy about our time slot we had available, Joy Jiggled things around to accommodate our needs(3 couples) and being so cheerful collecting us from the airport late into the evening after a 3 hr delay. Joy explained where the bike unit was and only a 5 minute walk away from our hotel, we stayed in the Elba Vecindario which was a good choice and would highly recommend this hotel, excellent breakfast selection and a roof top swimming pool.
Arriving at the bike unit the following morning you quickly realise what a smooth operation CMT are. We met Martin and Jose who are so friendly and put you at ease.
The bikes were all parked up outside and were meticulously maintained and ready to go. Martin then gave us a quick but through briefing of the days ahead and what was expected of you.
Now for the riding, if you don't like twisty roads and hairpin bends stay home pick up another bike magazine and just read about folks enjoying themselves. Every day was a different route and something new, after over 50 years of riding we have never experienced roads like these, challenging, traffic free with ultra smooth tarmac. The scenery was lovely and going through the local villages was a delight
Martin has his coffee and lunch stops all planned to coincide with when you need them, lovely coffee's, lunches and dare i say it cakes and ice creams.
Jose was our guide one day and what a character he was , a man that's travelled many countries on a motorcycle and has lots of tales, he is always taking photo's during the breaks and keeps you on your toes.
This is definitely a company that prides itself with customer care and enjoyment.
Thank you Joy, Martin and Jose for an unforgettable weeks spring riding in 30 to 40 degrees temperature.
One last thing, Jose told us one lunchtime, people that say "live for today have got it wrong, its live for the moment!!" So if your reading this , your mouse is in your hand, go to CMT book here and click, you will not regret it.

As you might have guessed, this was my second visit to Canary Motorcycle tours and was even more enjoyable than the first (which was awesome).
This time, I took an experienced motorcyclist friend who also simply raved about the roads, the weather and the hospitality.
Martin found new roads that I had not previously ridden and his expertise meant that he was able to monitor the groups' individual abilities and tailor the ride to accommodate all the riders there.
The friendly welcome was covid compliant as was the entire stay without being onerous meaning this felt like a real break in these difficult times.
If you are missing your riding this is an ideal winter "fix" that I will certainly be doing again.
Thank you Joy and Martin - see you soon!

My wife and I have visited Canary Motorcycle Tours in Gran Canaria 3 times and once to Slovenia so far, both have been booked again this year.
The whole team at CMT are very friendly and helpful and are always willing to listen and offer advice to make the most of your riding.
Most of the bikes are mid range size which are perfect for the type of roads on the island and for making the most of the type of riding you will be doing. A lot of mountain style roads with switchbacks and hairpins and long sweeping corners following the contours of the landscape, it never gets dull.
The roads on GC are all well looked after, the odd section of rough surface but NO potholes the size of an asteroid impact like we have in the UK to worry about.
I would like to mention that some of the roads can be rather a challenge so I would recommend at least 1-2 years of experience riding before tackling them. Riding a few times a month in the summer is not enough! Several times a week over a good year or better two would be best. Also A.I.M type of riding will not be of help and shouldn’t be used as the type of roads there are not the sort that will accommodate this style. CMT have a saying now, stay right, stay tight and stay safe, it’s said for a reason and it works.
I’ve been riding for 35 yrs+ my wife for 5 years and have learnt more about bike control in a few weeks on GC than over all of that time. We’ve never used the back brake so much! Riding here has made us much better riders.
The island has some wonderful scenery where ever you go, we see new things every time.
The people are friendly and welcoming and all speak English better than we speak Spanish. Food is always excellent and the “special” coffee is very addictive.
The weather in general is good, warm and sunny but as with anywhere it can get a little cold from time to time up some of the mountain roads and it can rain sometimes too so bring layers and waterproofs would be an idea but not essential as the tour routes will be adjusted to try to avoid any bad weather.
Slovenia is a beautiful country, amazing roads and scenery. Everywhere is clean and tidy and safe, all in all a fantastic place to ride, not as technical as GC but every bit as enjoyable. With a central base you get to see a lot of the country as well as some surrounding countries on different days, all fantastic to ride in.
We would recommend any bike rider of any age (with the right experience) to spend some time riding in these places and to do it with Canary Motorcycle Tours, Joy, Martin, Jose and Ken will look after you.
We have had a fabulous time each trip and have already book our next 2 trips with them, Slovenia in the summer and GC in the autumn.

WOW, guys, awesome review that covers everything, thank you so much. It is fabulous when people compliment us but even better when other riders can pass on their thoughts from their own experience to other thinking about coming over, so well done.
Over the last few years you guys have been with us numerous times now and are part of the CMT community of regulars - thank you so much for your continued support and loyalty. it means so much to us. We are all so looking forward to another awesome 'Summer in Slovenia', made even better knowing you guys will be joining us.
Until July!!!

The week tour surpassed all expectations. It was unbelievably good. I wouldn't have believed there would be so many brilliant biking roads with stunning views on a small island. Martin, Joy, and Jose couldn't have been better hosts and run an amazing setup.
I went as part of a group of five, and all parties thoroughly enjoyed our week. The area of the island where they operate is not a touristy part of the island, and therefore, the bars and restaurants are very reasonably priced.
Overall, I couldn't fault it.
A big thank you, Canary Motorcycle Tours.

In 52 years of riding motorcycles I have had many brilliant experiences and built up plenty of wonderful memories and I can honestly say the week spent with Martin, Joy and their, excellent, right hand man José, ranks right up there with the best of them.
Even from my first enquires everything went as smooth as silk and I got a hint of how customer focused the CMT team are. And that would be emphasised when one of the clients had an unfortunate spill, a replacement machine was produced within minutes and the only concern was for the client’s welfare.
So, how was the actual riding? Simply fabulous! Imagine the most twisting mountain roads, well surfaced (for the most part) and with stunning views. Add in, almost guaranteed, sunshine and the company of like minded enthusiasts and you have the recipe for an unforgettable experience.

Just completed an awesome week with Canary Motorcycle Tours.
This tour exceed my expectations, and the Island of Gran Canaria was more than I expected , I had little knowledge of the island and the scale of the mountains and the endless amount of bends and types of roads. A guided tour was perfect for our little group, you get to see so much more, and roads you would not necessarily go on ending up at great vantage points and destinations.
Joy and Martin run a great operation, they are very supportive in the organisation of your trip and communication is excellent prior and after arrival.
The on island service is great, from airport pick up and briefing on the tour and making sure all the paperwork is done ready for you to get on the bikes.
The “KING” guide (his words) Jose is a real character, full of beans, he is infectious and a prolific photographer, both Martin and Jose are smooooith riders and make it look effortless as they sweep around spectacular bends with hardly a break light to be seen, but making sure they cater for all abilities even me the son of captain slow. Thank you for your patience 🙏🏻
The camaraderie amongst the two groups of riders when we meet up for lunch or a coffee break was great, with a wide range of personalities, a kitty is taken to cover the two breaks in the day ,this covers drinks and occasional cakes. At lunch time it’s common for the group to split the bill evenly between all riders, some spectacular locations for lunch with lovely food.
The motorcycle range is more than adequate and is well maintained and many have done high mileage but ride well. As they would advise smaller lighter motorcycles are perfect on these roads and a popular choice was the Honda NC750’s which I am told had good engine breaking.
I did not need to use the motorcycle clothing they have for you to use, I preferred to take my own but they seemed to have good selection of apparel.
Our group used the Elba Airport hotel, this was a short walk from the garage, so easy to get to.
As they describe this is a tour for experienced riders and may not suit all but one thing is for certain it’s an experience you would never forget and would more than likely want to do it again, and again…….

We had a fabulous trip with Canary Motorycle Tours and their three island tour in April 2023. I highly recommend the 3 islands tour because the islands are unique and you can have a more varied experience. I really appreciated the flexibility of dates and trip details when we were organizing the trip with Joy. She patiently answered my many questions and helped me to understand the requirements, options and details of the trip. While we were there we had guided tours with Martin and Jose who were both fantastic! I was really impressed at how they focused on the best roads and stopped at perfect viewpoints and worked in coffee & lunch breaks at great places in great intervals. This is a family business that really knows how to organize a trip well, take care of their customers and focus on safety. The customer service and attention was absolutely phenomenal and I highly recommend the Canary Motorcycle Tours for their personal touch and commitment to their customers. Every aspect of our trip from the initial contact, through reservation, through payment, through being there for the riding was superb!

Early February, went out to GC with my daughter to spend a week with CMT and we both had a fabulous time. We enjoyed it so much, that as bikes were available, we rode for a sixth day too, rather than wasting it wandering about. Before going out there, I would never have believed that you could have so much fun at 40mph and less!! The only times we reached “normal” speeds was on the motorways going back to base after yet another brilliant day!The scenery was incredible and the 100s of hairpins on every ride, were at times both daunting yet satisfying, compressing years of riding experiences into one week. As mentioned on the website, the mountain roads of GC are not for the inexperienced or faint hearted, but my daughter, with only about 4 years of very casual riding, had no trouble and she also learned a lot, as I think, did I!
Our room in the 2 Star hotel was excellent; individual aircon/heat pump and a shower to die for! The cafeteria for “eat as much as you like” breakfasts and the odd dinner was perfectly adequate, with a 3 course dinner with wine and coffee for only 12 Euros. For the evenings, there were 3 or 4 friendly bars in the hotel building and I have to mention “Pizza Flash” a multi-award winning (yes, really!) takeaway only 250 mtrs from the hotel. Only 6 Euros for one of the best pizzas you’ve had, with a free beer!
The crew, Martin, Joy, Jose and Ken were extremely friendly, helpful and obliging and Martin, an ex motorcycle instructor, was always on hand to assist or advise.
Overall, a brilliant week, which we will be repeating next year, hopefully meeting up with some of the same great people we rode (and drank) with.
PS. I've had to put "family, teens" in the box below, but my daughter is 36!

We had a fabulous time with you and L and we would be so thrilled if you returned again next year.
A wonderful Dad and daughter combination who are welcome over any time. Thank you both so much for riding with us and trusting us with your holiday.
Regards and best wishes to you both.

Please can you advise guest experiences of taking crash helmet on a Ryanair flight from uk. Can they be taken as carry on, or do they have to be checked? Thanks in advance. Don’t want to be caught out if I try to take as carry on.

I am thinking of coming over for 7-8 days in Nov. Is there a dent hotel or resort nearby because the wife wouldn’t be attending the rides. I would be looking at day rides not a full week.Possibly 4-5.

Firstly let me apologies for the very late response. I wasn't alerted to the fact we had a message on here. I'm sorry. There are lots of great resort areas in the south of the Island including Playa de Ingles, Maspalomas and Meloneras. Each of these places are within a 20 minute drive from our premises and we would be happy to collect and return you if you wanted to ride with us.
