About
Award-winning 3-acre garden surrounding an 18th century Manor House and Grade I listed 16th century Tithe Barn. Bourton House Garden features luxuriant terraces and wide herbaceous borders with stunning plant, texture and colour combinations. Features include a topiary walk, a White Garden and several spring-fed water features including a raised basket pond from the Great Exhibition of 1851. You will also find a Shade House, colourful borders with unusual tender perennials and many creatively planted pots. A raised 18th century walk provides an enticing visual link to the Cotswold landscape beyond. Visitors to the garden are also invited to enjoy the walk in our seven-acre field (opened to the public in 2013) which meanders through groups of specimen trees planted in 1994/95. Beautiful to visit throughout the seasons, Bourton House Garden presents an especially magnificent late summer flourish when many gardens run their course.

The gardens & House were beautiful, a very tranquil space. Z
Although it was autumn when we visited, the colours were wonderful.
We finished off our visit with a cup of tea in the tithebarn cafe. A lovely visit.

We were looking for a garden to visit to use our '2for1' Gardens card and perhaps somewhere a little different. Bourton House Garden caught our attention due to it's location and how the garden was described. The description did not disappoint.
Finding the location is easy with a Satnav and as you get near signposted. Parking is on the opposite side of the road and there was ample space. You walk across the road and pay entry at the beautiful Tithe Barn and then wander round.
Considering it was October it really did not disappoint. With so much still in flower and a stunning layout. it was one of the warm October days but still! Sitting in the Orchard area and just listening to the wind blow through the trees was simply a very tranquil and relaxing site. There are a number of different areas with the overall gardens. All with something different to offer. Despite being quite a compact house garden, it doesn't feel it. There is plenty of room to move around and different areas if one gets busy and moving between them is very easy.
The only sad piece, and beyond everyone's control, is box blight has devastated some of the beautiful topiary that can be seen in the guides. However, it has been replaced with what looked like yew so looking at a positive it will be interesting to watch how this grows as it matures.
There are toilets on site and before October there is a fully set up cafe inside the Tithe Barn, but this was closed when we went so cannot comment. However, they had put a pop up cafe on site so we were still able to get a brew and gorgeous home made cake. Simply fantastic.
We ended the day with a wander round the field that is attached to the car park and is part of the land owned by the house. It has some fantastic trees and a guide is given on arrival to tell you all about them. It is a grassed path around the field.
Overall this was just a lovely few hours spent in a beautiful location. The gardeners at the house have a fantastic eye with each area offering something different while all having a running theme as you move through. Seeing it in the different seasons is something we look forward to.

Hi Many thanks or your lovely review of our garden. As you say, it was very sad for us all when we had to finally give in and remove some of the box hedging, but Jacky and the team have used this as an opportunity to try new things which are already adding new interest to the garden. We will look forward to welcoming you back soon.

What a find! Brilliant garden even in late September (no empty ‘gaps’ like other gardens nearby we visited at same tins). Incredible deep and colourful herbaceous borders. Recommended.

Visited today. Amazing gardens and so much to see. I carnot believe that there is a review that says the gardens are small! Lots of different sections and so much colour for this time of year and full of unusual plants. Shame these weren't amongst the plants that were for sale. Lovely Tithe Barn which houses cafe. My friend said scone was lovely. Sadly no white bread so, due to allergies, I couldn't eat as I don't eat cake either but tea was lovely and you can sit in Tithe Barn or garden. Only £9 and accept Gardeners World BOGOF so it was a bargain. We will definitely return and we highly recommend a visit.

The gardens are magnificent. So much in such a small area! The borders are stunning, and it's almost September. The cafe too in the tithe barn is very atmospheric. Highly recommended.

The white garden is my favourite part.
This was my 6th. visit, always lovely at different times of the year.
A beautiful small garden, fantastically looked after by expert staff.
Great cakes to be purchased in the tithe barn.
Always have to buy a plant to take home.

This is a really lovely place. The gardens were small but magnificently planted with a riot of colour. We had lunch which was excellent with a very nice outdoor seating area. Good value for money if you want to while away a few hours with some lunch thrown in.

This is the most beautiful and best-maintained garden I have ever visited. It's not huge at 3acres, but is packed with intimate "garden rooms" planted in a modern and imaginative style with a vast, careful curated range of plants. Coordinated colours, shape and leaf contrasts, unusual planting combinations delighted us at every turn. There's the inevitable white garden, a warm border of reds/golds, a shade garden with a slatted "greenhouse" to create shade, numerous topiary specimens, a herb/vegetable garden, wildflower meadows and a tearoom/ plant sales area in the magnificent tithe barn which predates the pretty 18th century house, which is not open to the public (still in private ownership). There's free parking just over the road from the garden, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. An absolute gem for the garden enthusiast, and much quieter than the better-known Cotswold gardens.

I honestly think this is the most beautiful garden I’ve ever visited. The views are amazing. What makes this garden special is the attention to detail - you can tell that the gardeners have put so much effort into every inch of the garden. Everyone who worked there was very friendly, and the cakes were all delicious.

Unlike some UK gardens, Bourton House Garden features enormous beauty in a rather small footprint. You can see the entire gardens in under an hour, but you will be treated to unmatched diverse botanical "eye candy". Since the place is rather small, you can take your time and soak in the natural beauty of Bourton. After your tour, take time to sample their cafe and souvenir shop.
