Beautiful architecture, peaceful gatherings for the devout or not devout, magical atmosphere.

Be sure to visit during the monks singing around 5 pm.

A power place.

Have witnessed amazing health recoveries after visiting the black madonna.

When finally I could get there, I was totally impressed by this abbey. It is massive and beautiful. The church is very nicely decorated (see the picture). And the part of the cluster is still public, with notably horse stables. There is also a cafe on the side of the building. Don't miss it if you happen to be in the area. And read its history!

Very popular pilgrimage church in a small town. The gift shop of the abbey offers religious items and candles but also local food and beverage items. Underground parking is available and close by.

We took the train from Zurich to Einsiedeln to specifically see this Church and abbey. It was beautiful and held its own against the churches of Europe. The art work on the ceilings and the interior Shrine to Our Lady of Einsiedeln were worth the trip. The interior is Baroque with a lot of pink stucco and cherubs. This pink color was not a common one for me to see in a Catholic church. I also don't believe I've encountered as many cherubs as what seemed to be present here. The pulpit was phenomenal and a true work of art. The trip up to it was also picturesque with rolling hills and sheep grazing on their steep sides. The walk around the grounds was also pleasant and added to the ambiance. There was a horse stable towards one corner. We went through the courtyard that led to the on-grounds gift shop and encountered the angelic voices chanting the Angelus. That added to the whole experience and made it that much more memorable. The little town around it also seemed pleasant and peaceful with many options for restaurant dining.

What an impressive venue! You can look hours at it and never a dull moment! Also the stables are impressive! Don't go on a tuesday because then a lot of the venue is closed.

We visited Kloster Einsiedeln on a June weekday with a large group of friends. A Swiss couple traveling with us graciously organized a very informative guided tour. We were all very impressed with the beauty and architecture of the church and the Monastery’s library (photos of the library are attached). The library has a very impressive collection of extremely old and rare books and manuscripts. The nearby courtyard, which includes stables for local residents’ horses, is a truly spectacular setting. Upon entering the courtyard, it felt as if we had walked onto a set for a Disney film (photo attached). On our way out, we also enjoyed the Kloster's gift shop. Prior to touring the Kloster, we walked and shopped through Einsiedeln and its extensive local street market. The shops and market offered many interesting and practical items from a wide variety of sellers. We also had an excellent lunch at a local restaurant. Bottom line, we recommend a visit to the Kloster and a stroll through the town.

A huge abbey, associated abbey buildings and large stable block. On the pilgrimage route of Jakobsweg. If you plan to visit and want to see the whole of the Abbey you should probably check online when services are held as access inside the abbey is restricted during worship although you can still get in the abbey, but not pass the foyer area. The frescoes on the walls and ceilings are stunning as is the rare black Madonna. In summer if you visit there is a blessed water fountain outside the abbey which you can use to fill up any empty water bottles you might have. There is also a shop in the abbey grounds selling Roman catholic artefacts. The abbey doesn't have any designated car parking for visitors and as Einsiedeln is a busy place it can sometimes be tricky to find a place to park. From the train station it's a 10/15 walk uphill.

Like Lourdes, this has health-giving waters from the fountains out front. The inside is just amazing, as is the black madonna, then round back is the shop, stables, etc., truly a magical place...

While on holiday in Switzerland visited many beautiful and wonderful places, amongst Kloster Einsiedeln. Tourist are pouring to visit to see its wealth (we were there in summer, high tourist season). Very quiet and security-guards are onsite to protect … Unfortunately to take photographs in the Kloster itself is prohibited.
We took a walk around the Kloster, there is a shop to buy "Kloster-made' souvenirs, chocolates, wines… and outside the Kloster' premises we can find a small market with vendors selling swiss souvenirs. And you just gotta love Einsiedeln with its streets, shops, restaurants and coffee-houses...
