If you're touring this part of the Dordogne you have to do a trip down the Dordogne river with your family and a picnic basket. Arrive in Limeuil and park just outside the town in large car park. Meet Patrick and Katy run Canoes Rivieres...More

Staying in Tremolat this was local to us. Staff very helpful and excursion reasonably priced. We did the 2.5 hour excursion. Although the river flows downstream back to the centre it is quiet hard going to times. Think we covered circa 16km and needed to...More

We chose this location as it was close to our holiday home. We visited the day before to check out the details and booked by phone later that day. Check in was OK, but there was a bit of a wait. Not sure if they...More

Spent all day canoeing along the most beautiful scenery. Hired two 3 persons canoes for 2 adults and 4 children. All safety provisions were supplied plus barrels to keep our belongings dry. Stopped off for a paddle and picnic at deserted beaches and saw lots...More

Love the dordogne, such clear water, 1-2.5 hours is perfect for a family canoe, can stop off at small beachlike riverbanks, keep to right of river when getting to the last bridge as you can miss your exit point if on other side of river.

I had a great time paddling down from Siorac - enjoying the views, the lovely temperature and occasional swim. The kids loved it too, though there were a couple of people in our group of 12 who thought a shorter run would have been enough....More

We chose a relatively short paddle from siorac to limeuil. Bit disappointed that we weren't given any basic instructions as we aren't seasoned canoeists. At Siorac we first had to paddle through loads of weeds (hard work!). And quickly learnt that we weren't great at.steering!...More

We booked the day before by phone for a party of 9 and this was in the school holidays, so I would leave it until you arrive. Better to plan a day when the sun is out - which no-one could predict that far ahead!

Hi Emma, yes, no problem. We had one eight year old, but I saw children much younger. They will be perfectly safe.
