- Zosia BWaterloo, Belgium1,466 contributionsFabulous experienceFinding details about tour times was difficult so we just showed up. It’s really not near a whole lot but gps and road signage got us there. There was only a German and French tour but we were game and it didn’t disappoint. The guide was great and the grottos are beyond cool. There is a lot of walking, many stairs and it is muddy and slippery. Wear shoes with tread and be prepared. The highlight of our Sardinian trip so far.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 26 October 2023
- Ana DCheltenham, United Kingdom3 contributionsCave TourIncredible tour, beautiful cave, the tour guide gave so much great information and was lovely to chat to, languages picked are based on tourguide and amount of people we had english and italian. Place was easy to find, next to a restaurant of the same name, we didnt eat there but looked good. Arrived in between tours so waiting (tour times 12 and 2), tickets 12euros. Tour lasts 1-1:30 hours. Theres a nice picnic spot if you keep walking up. Also should visit the honey hut next to the cave tour. It gets cold and humid in the cave but if youre from a cold country its fine (managed it in a mini dress and sandals).Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 June 2024
- KoensterAmersfoort, The Netherlands11 contributionsGreat experience with young kidsGreat escape from the sun, 1,5 hour easy walk (with young kids) down into the cave, , lovely informative and funny guide (judith). Restaurant to relax before and after the walk. Cool temperature of 10c in de cave. Take a sweater with you. Just a nice switch from the beaches and sun.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 July 2024

I’m sure the cave itself is lovely but we had a horrible experience here today. Our sat nav took us on a wild adventure to find the cave which meant we arrived later than planned and between the times of two guided tours. We purchased our tickets which were €12 per person expecting to have to wait until the next tour time which was an hour and a half away. We didn’t mind waiting, but we were delighted to be told they were happy for us to explore the cave in our own time if we didn’t mind not having a guide. So, we were given a few facts about the cave and off we went. Be prepared for a fair climb up some steps to reach the cave but there are many stopping points if you need to catch your breath. The cave itself is lovely and was lit to show you the stunning surfaces and spectacles inside. However, we’d only got around halfway when we came across the earlier tour group and the tour guide started questioning us, demanded to see our tickets and, even upon showing them to her and relaying the information from her colleague at the ticket desk, processed to make us exit the cave. The way she spoke to us made us feel as though we’d done something wrong. So, when we reached the ticket office again my husband went inside with her to speak with the colleague who had given us permission to go into the cave. The lady at the ticket office confirmed that she’d given us permission and couldn’t understand why the tour guide made us leave. We asked if we could have a partial refund given we didn’t see the whole cave and the tour guide said no. The whole experience made us feel really uncomfortable which is a shame as I’m sure we’d have loved the attraction otherwise. They did offer for us to then join the next tour group but we didn’t feel comfortable accepting after the way we’d been treated by the tour guide who would have been running the next tour as well.

I was a little scared by the 8°C declared both on the site and in other reviews, as we didn't have "warm" clothes with us and we were traveling with children. However, we dressed in layers, with a sweatshirt and k-way worn at the last minute right before the descent into the cave, given the 32°C outside, and we felt good despite the humidity. The atmosphere is magical and the cave is imposing and impressive. The walkway is slippery in some places, you need to be careful especially with children to avoid slipping on the clayey ground despite wearing gym shoes. In my opinion, the time dedicated to the guided tour is correct: in 1 hour you arrive at the end of the fifth and final "chamber" without running and you then have plenty of time to return from the same route in reverse, calmly discovering new observation points . Our guide, Cinzia, was very precise and responded sympathetically to the children's questions; in short, a beautiful experience, in a Sardinia to be savored in its entirety, not only for the incomparable sea but also for the treasures of the hinterland!

I personally really liked the cave and the trip in general. The guide was clear and comprehensive. You enter a place full of atmosphere. The trip lasted 1 and a half hours. It's very cold inside and you slip a lot, wear closed shoes and a sweatshirt. However, if you happen to be in the area, it is absolutely worth seeing

In the area for holidays we heard about this cave. We were not necessarily very motivated at Check-out especially when we saw the previous comments and the number of steps to climb. Finally we were not disappointed, a large magnificent cave 12euros per adult (August) 7euros for children under 11. There are visits every two hours. It's very cold downstairs. Providing a sweater and good shoes the climb is difficult because there are many steps but no problem to do it

A magical place, every time I get as excited as the first time. An underground palace, with marble vaulted rooms and pools of water, decorated by the mysterious centuries-old work of water. Enchanting and well preserved. The work of the cooperative is excellent also thanks to the enthusiasm of the young guides

Absolutely interesting and curious to enter a cave, see the thousand transformations that have taken place over time.
A small flaw, we perceived the guide as not very motivated, it seemed like he was doing us all a favor, to give an idea. Every word is written with the purpose of constructive criticism. Experiences are all much more pleasant and remain in the mind when courtesy, kindness and enthusiasm guide them.

As a tourist you come there and it is not clearly indicated when you can visit the grotto. There was a sign with a time indication 11-13, 14-16, and then after we had already walked up all the stairs to the grotto the grotto was closed. The next tour was not until 2 p.m. OK, so we walk back down. When we bought the tickets at the bar, we pointed out in a friendly tone that it would be nice to put up a sign before walking up so that it would be clear that the next tour was not starting until later. Here we were approached in a rude tone by a man who said we just needed to read better. OK, we let it go. When he still would not let it go and shouted at the employee at the ticket office, we intervened, gave back the tickets and left.

A small day trip that can be easily combined with visits to Jerzu and Ulassai.
The drive over serpentines with beautiful views over the green mountains and some vineyards.
Parking lot at the grotto. Restaurant and café available where you can buy the ticket for the grotto.
Our group at 2pm was relatively large. The guide explained everything in Italian and English.
The cave is illuminated.
At 10 degrees you should at least wear a sweater. Warning: it can be slippery, so sure-footedness and sturdy shoes are required.
The tour lasts about 90 minutes

Very nice guide. Everything was explained clearly in English. It is made clear that the bats and the rocks are to be protected, which is why there is only a little lighting, but absolutely sufficient.
The climb is steep, so you should be in good physical shape. Sturdy shoes are a must, as it is slippery inside. A jacket is recommended when the temperature is between 8-10 degrees Celsius.
A cave that is absolutely worth seeing.

Hi,
We would like to visit Grotta today, what time do you have tour with English guide?
Written 18 August 2018
Hi, I'm sorry that I can reply to your qouestion just today.
You most likely did the tour to the Grotta, already.
But to answer your question: The guide we had is Italian. But he does explain in Italina, English and French at every stop he made/makes in the Grotta.
I hope you experience the same.
We did our tour in the morning. I think it was 11 am.
