Great, but would be better if we could land!

Commentary hard to hear and mainly in french....weather was beautiful, but even that couldn't compensate for a long boat trip that didn't deliver!

Fun to see the fort if you are nearby or if you are a fan. The boat tour last about one hour. We did it from 6.30 to 7.30 pm and there was not so many people on the boat which was nice. Was much more busy in the afternoon. Price was 17.5 EUR per adult.

Took trip from La Rochelle to Ile d'Aix, which circles Fort Boyard on the way. It's a most peculiar landmark, but well worth seeing. Although the tour explanations are in French only, the main thing is to see the fort, as you can read as much detail online as you wish! As a manmade edifice it is really very impressive.... More

We took a boat trip to Fort Boyard. The trip was quite long with very little English information. Lots in French, so ok for French speakers. On the way home the journey was very rough ( even though it was a calm day) we were soaked! Not the trip for me!

If you ever watched the Fort Boyard T V show then a boat trip to the fort is essential. Though you can't land and explore the set you get the atmosphere of the Napoleonic fort from the proximity of the boat. Add in a visit to the beautiful Ile d'Aix to make a full day trip.

My son wanted to see this for a couple of years after watching the TV game show. You get tickets at the Old Harbour in La Rochelle. €17.50 for adults and €€11.50 for kids. It takes about an hour each way into the Atlantic and the boat hangs around for 15 minutes or so to take pictures. It's impressive. Caught... More

Fort Boyard is a must see in the La Rochelle area. It is a unique attraction and nowhere in the world is anything similar. Many cruises offer a tour of the Fort, although it is impossible to climb We travelled with the Croisieres Inter-Iles which had a ticket office adjacent to the car park [Saint Jean D'Acre]. It was a... More
