Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A bus takes you from the parking area to the theater-it is a long uphill walk. Have someone stand down near the stage area and someone else stand up near the top to talk to each other and see the amazing acoustics. Even with much of the back of the theater gone, you can speak without shouting. The view from the theater over the valley is a big plus!

We go to Segesta to visit the Temple but not everyone goes up to see the Theater either because it is 1.5 km uphill even if there is a free shuttle service that runs every 1/2 hour or because the summer heat makes us give up Well if you decide to be heroic like the ancient Greeks you will be rewarded by the beauty of the place. Unlike the other theaters that were dug into the hill this one in Segesta was built with a different technique by placing marble slabs on the hill to give body to the structure then Gradually the steps and the cavea were built, theatrical performances are still held today. It seems that at any moment they will have to come on stage: Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Perfect acoustics. Not to be missed

The Greek theater of Segesta inside the archaeological park, which also includes the temple, is a place to absolutely visit, preferably during one of the many representations or shows, organized by the Segesta Festival, which enliven the evenings of August and which they bring it back to its original function. The view you can see from up there is beautiful although unfortunately, this year, the fires that devastated the park area have wreaked havoc on the surrounding vegetation. To be seen.

Teatro Greco Di Segesta are the remains of a classical Greek amphitheater and it is located in an archeological area not far from Calatafimi-Segesta town. It is located in a high position, so you can see wonderful views from the place. The amphitheater is very well preserved: you can see almost all. In fact, nowadays it is used as a theater and ad concert place. It is awesome! Really, awesome remains of the Greek period! Top for people, who enjoy this era, and also for children!

It’s a nice walk to get to (about 1.2km up hill but there is also shuttle bus for €1.50 up the hillside), but by walking we felt we saw more and could appreciate the ancient layout of the hilltop town (now ruined) associated to the amphitheater.

The amphitheater itself is incredibly well preserved and the beautiful vistas from it’s perch on top of Mount Barbaro show why it was built where it is.

Beware of the parking scam; when you get to the roundabout just beside the site, ignore the ‘gentlemen’ directing you to go back down the hill to their parking location and use their shuttle bus. Instead, simply drive around to the last exit (it’s a small roundabout), and drive a 100m or so further up the hill to the free parking on the left.

The ancient city of the Elimians is a must visit site. It is a little remote and walking shoes are required as is water when hot. The theatre is amazing, including the views, even if the rest of the site is a little bit dissapointing due to the fact it is over grown. Information is in Italian and English.

This fabulous archeological site is an astoundingly well preserved Greek temple perched on a hilltop with a panoramic view of the countryside. You walk up a hill and suddenly you are transported back in time. We didn't want to leave. It is hot with no shade.

Very nicely preserved and stunningly beautiful view from the theatre. Whole site worth roaming with other important ruins of structures.

During our trip around Sicily we visited the archeological site at Segesta before any other one. We loved it, both the temple and the theatre. When we saw the theatre in Taormina and Syracuse we regretted not having spent more time and taken more pictures of the Segesta one. It's the only one that they left alone in its original state, the only one that shows its features, the only one that has not been covered in boards for a show or has a roof on top of it. It's my favourite by a long shot. The view from the steps towards the sea is a memory you'll take with you forever. Be prepared to a long and steep walk uphill to get there, or take the bus at the base of the hill. It's worth the walk.

If you are walking it is a bit of a climb for the over seventies however there is a bus that goes up about every 15 minutes. It is well worth the visit as this is a large theatre with backs to seats in the top row - something I have not seen before. Walking up there are many ruins of buildings and a church to see.
