Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went to Shashur Monastery. The panoramic view of the river, mountains and Keylong town from the monastery is amazing. The prayer rooms are bedecked with large paintings and wall paintings, making this place even more worth the visit. It is great place to go.

We went halfway in our vehicle and halfway by trek. We got a bit extra adventurous and instead of following the road we climbed straight up. So we had the wind out of us by the time we reached the monastery. Small climbs at high altitudes can be exhausting. Gompa was peaceful and has a rich history. Any direction you look around gives you a lovely view of snow-capped mountains.

It took us 3.5 hours to hike to the Monastery from Keylong ISBT bus stand. The trek is easy, has some good views over the valley and surrounding mountains. The monks over there are really nice and welcoming. They offered us tea and we chitchatted for a while.

It also has a driving route for two and four wheeler.

The shashur monastery is lovely to visit. There a road near Keylong that climbs up the mountain and takes you to Shashur. The drive is a bit bumpy, but we stopped many times to take in the wonderful view of the valley. There are wild flowers growing everywhere in June. The monastery itself is very quiet. There is the main room where you can light inscence sticks. From the first floor you can get a brilliant view of the valley. A definite visit if you are around !

The climb is very difficult to Shashur monastery. Road was narrow at places and the drive is especially difficult if you have a minivan with 7 people. We covered the distance partly by vehicle and partly on foot. When we reached the Gompa it was locked, finally we got to the inner Gompa after calling out to some of the priests there. The inner Gompa is supposed to be intact from 17th century. The story of the place is fascinating and the tranquility is worth the effort. You get a better view of the snow peaks from there as if they are just in front of your face - thanks to the elevation. I read in reviews before that it offers fantastic views but I did not think they were fantastic enough.

People visiting Keylong shall not miss Sashur monastery. We were there on 4th july last year and we are almost first few guests to pass rohtang. Uphill drive to Shashur was breathtaking and unforgettable. View from main road gives an impression that monastery was very close but it was really longer than expected. My photos can give you feel of the location
