This is a wonderful day trek. We were staying at the karma exotica and the starting point was just 10 mins drive from the hotel.
We contacted the paragliding place at indrunag temple and decided to go with them.
We were picked up at 7.30 am from our hotel and we started walking up at 8.00am.
Our guide was a young boy Ankush who was very interactive and talked and gave us good info about the life around. We were told that it will take us 3/4 hours to reach the top. But we reached at 9.30 am itself. We won’t call ourselves super fit but we reasonably fit. I would say anyone who works out in the city for about an hour everyday can easily do this trek.
The views of the mountains are stunning from the top.
There r a few camps at the top in which u can stay. We opted not to and we’re back in our hotel by 12.30.
All in all a day well spent.
You can contact Ankush @ 8627-064726. He’s a young chap who knows his trade well.

this wasn't planned like a usual trek but turned out to be one of the most memorable ones for me in the near past. Had a personal guide for myself and completed the trek in 3 hours. Stayed up there in this amazing cottage - the guide was great help . With no electricity and no distractions, the majestic mountains and the countless stars only add to the serenity of nature and your inner-journey too. Recommended trek. Good to see the focus of the Govt. and people to keep this zero-plastic zone. I do request everyone to respect this and keep the trek clean for our future generations and friends to visit.

I booked my trek through Thrillohilia which was arranged by Manu Adventures and it was nothing like the great reviews written here. We were a small group of 7 people but the guide (Abhishek) had no interest in guiding us. He was on his own solo trip and we were on our own. The worst part was he abandoned us while returning back because he had some plans with his family. On top of that, we were not taken from the route as mentioned in other reviews (the 22 steep curves) because the camping site is closer to another route which is very difficult and is just stones, nothing picturesque about it. The Dinner served was not enough for us and we were told it is over, it was extremely cold and we asked them to light the bonfire, but they did it only after dinner was done.
The view was also okayish, Now I am a bit skeptical if he even took us to the right spot. All in all, it was not such a good experience. The only thing that was good was the company of fellow travelers and hence the two stars.

Wonderful trekking to the top of TRIUND peak which is approximately 10000 ft above sea level.
Trekking is steep steps an ardous route which takes to the top of mountain.
I completed the trek in 5 hours and back to the base of TRIUND hill, total trek of 10-12 Km.
From the base you may take a taxi to get down to Tushita meditation center or Mcleodganj bus stand which is another 6-8 Km. The taxi's are small maruti cars which will charge 500 rupees both ways.
Since, I had time so i walked all the way from TRIUND peak to Mcleodganj bus stand.

Very nice walk up from Gallu Devi.
I was charged 200 rupees for the ticket, which states that the fee is 100.
So apparently the guy puts 100 in his own pocket.
The other 100 could be invested into somebody cleaning up all the litter left at the top.
HP forestry department doesn't answer in this matter.

We started by taking a short taxi ride from Mcleodganj to the start of the trek. That cost 500rps. They tell you before the trek that it will take 4 hours to get up and another 4 hours to get down. It is quite a steep slope going up, but it took us 2 hours to get to the top. From there you can take as much time as you want to have some tea or get lunch. When we went up there was a bit of snow, which made it a little slippery, but nothing treacherous.
You could probably do this trek without a guide. It is very well marked and there are enough people doing it you won't get lost. There are a few tea huts at the halfway point and up top if you need to buy something to eat or drink. I would highly recommend taking water with you.

We started our walk from Dharamkot main square for Gallu Devi temple and we simply loved it. Took us 1hr to reach the top and after that we visited the Indra nag temple. View from there was mesmerizing. One cannot miss it. You can take a local taxi for rs500 till Gallu Devi temple as well. For triund, you can start from Dharamkot by walk or else reach Gallu Devi by taxi and then hike. Wonderful day

If you are not used to 2 to 3 hours of trek, might find it a little hard. It's steep climb, covering 600 meters in 3 hours. For most of the folks, it's very much doable. But once you make it to the top the view of the Moon Peak and it's neighboring peaks is breathtaking. Worth every sweat. Some folks stay overnight as tent / camp options are available. We left at 8:30am and got back by 4:30pm. We were slow as I had some difficulty with my knee coming down, given the constant descent from one stone to another. For most folks with no bio-mechanical problem with knees/hip, it's very much doable.

It's an easy trek that we did along with our 10 year old.
tree roots, fallen leaves and stone steps made gentle by walk make up the path.
Fortunately quite clean and not littered by humans .
Since path is so narrow and way steep with valley on one side , horses and vehicles are not found on the way.
The view is astounding not just of the valley spread below but also snow capped mountains ahead .
If you are lucky , like we were , you can find snow on the way itself ❄️
Even if you don't go all the way , worth whatever distance you can cover .

There are various ways to get up to Triund. We started the tour close to the Meditation Centre in Dharamkot and right at the Watertank turned left into the forest. From there up to Gallu Temple and further to Triund (There is another way starting close to Zostel Dharamkot). The way up is technically not very demanding but a good stamina helps a lot cause it will be very exhausting. The scenerie is beautiful, the air clean and you will find sufficient shops to refill water and buy snacks. It took us about 4,5 hours with breaks. Up at Triund you will find various camping sites as well as a small shop with tea and (warm) food. The camping sites are in very good condition. The way down we dismounted the long way via Devi Mandir and Black Swan Camps. This way is not very recommendable in my opinion since it is very crowded and very steep and takes around 3 hours to get down. Nevertheless, you finish the tour at BhagsuNag Waterfalls, another highlight on the tour.

If you are asking about the Covid situation, you should check closer the date of travel. s far as the trek is concerned, there should be no problem with your child. The altitude gain is not al that much.
