essential for exotic plant lovers
Sep 2020 • Couples
A wonderful antidote to some of the busier tourist spots. Lots to look at and in particular the cactus houses where spectacular. The architecture of the buildings was really beautiful and the quality of the plants off the scale. Highly recommended if you are even remotely interested in succulents and cacti.

An enjoyable evening
Jul 2019 • Couples
The garden is not spectacular, although the huge cacti in the greenhouse are. It reminded me of "The Lost Domain," green and tangled with lots of trees. It was unclear how dinner would happen. We returned to the courtyard at the appointed time, sat at one of the little tables and waited. Eventually a lady appeared and asked us what we would like to drink. Wine and nibbles were brought with much smiling. Another wait. Then the charming elderly gentleman who had given us our tickets came into the courtyard, indicating that we should follow him into a clearing to "mangiare".
It was very enjoyable sitting in the garden. Our macaroni was very good with a strong, fresh tomato flavour. My husband enjoyed his prawns; my pork was OK. The ambiance and atmosphere were as good as, if not better than, the food. This seems to be very much a family affair, and they were very nice people who tried very hard to give pleasure. They don't speak English.

A secret Puglia gem!
Jun 2019
So much more than a botanical garden, this is a labor of love from a lovely local man who started this oasis 40 years ago (and was on site both times we visited!) It has the largest collection of succulents in Europe, all housed in what looks like the ruins of a former masseria turned modern greenhouse. You can stroll through various other gardens, such as a formal Italian garden, and follow the winding, shaded paths that lead to all sorts of surprises (a garden built in a former quarry complete with duck pond and rabbit run!) Eventually you'll discover a sweet small-ish zoo, with deer, alapaca, friendly donkeys, loud geese and some of the strangest looking chickens you'll ever see. The place is so enchanting we went twice. If you are in the area, do not miss!

Don't miss this gem of a garden
May 2019 • Couples
Created by someone with a passion for flowers - especially cactus from every part of the world! - you should make a trip by this hidden gem. Really fantastic specimens to see and also the little zoo in the back is simple but charming. Worth the trip!

A gem in Puglia's Salento Region
Oct 2018 • Couples
We have been visiting this area of Puglia for about 8 years and for 5 of those we having been staying at a B&B in Cursi, about 12 minutes away. We never knew this garden existed until our hosts recommended it to us this year.
Well we were blown away. Yes we have seen bigger and better gardens in other parts of the world, but this one is a gem in that it is off the beaten path (and likely hard to find for some people) and something you would not expect find in Salento. Over 35 hectares divided into more than 10 gardens showcasing over 2500 plants from around the world. We found the indoor succulent area amazing. There is also a zoo with mostly farm animals as well as few exotic (alpaca?)
The entrance fee is 7Euros and worth it. There is also a large restaurant on site. The one thing we found odd is that it is closed between 12:30 and 4pm. I can imagine summer temperatures are very high but there is lots of shade and it is open year round.
If you are in or around Lecce it is a short drive to Palmariggi and then a few km to Giuggianello. The GPS is N 40'06.658 E 18'22506 and their telephone number is 0836.354 164. highly recommend it.

Pleasant visit, but not exactly Kew Gardens
Sep 2018 • Couples
We arrived early to avoid the midday heat. The garden is off the beaten track and it was pleasant driving through the local countryside. We went in September, so at the end of the season, and perhaps this is the reason for there being very little interest in the garden. However the displays of cacti were really splendid and the little ‘zoo’ was nice. It was pleasant strolling round the garden although it would have been nice to be able to have had a coffee, but there’s no cafe. The toilets were very clean, which is always a bonus.

If you love gardens visit this one
Sep 2017
Not easy to find but worth the effort. This garden is very personal, reflecting the owners love of exotic cacti and succulents. The glass houses have a fascinating collection of massive plants from dessert areas of the world. The rest of the garden is a pleasure to walk around- don't miss the secret garden with its collection of birds and small animals, but best of all a sunken shaded area that houses ferns and carnivorous flowers, really beautiful. The restaurant and bar provide welcome refreshments after a delightful wander in the woodland.

Really unique place made from passion and love to nature. You can spend nice time walking through different types of gardens and first of all magnificent collection of cactuses. Even our teenagers admired it!
