Doesn’t Appear Family Friendly - Skip this One
Aug 2021 • Family
Families beware. Excited and arrived at thr ghost town to see a sign saying it was now a fee area - no problem, right? Read the sign closely - says to watch stray children because they shoot them on-site (yes, shoot them on-site). And if you happen to arrive after hours, to go away. Not sure if the signage was meant to be funny - but it definitely is not. Very rude, seems unsafe for children. Didn’t give them any money and Left immediately since it appears they don’t want visitors and our children may not be safe. Surely there is more tactful way to tell everyone it’s a fee area and to keep out after dark if that is the intent of the signage.

Ghost Town + Colorado River
Jun 2021
While our visiting the Hoover Dam one day, we decided to check out the Nelson Ghost Town. Unfortunately we had just missed out on the tour to check out the old Gold Mine! It was still neat getting to walk around and look at everything. We were just told to watch out for rattlesnakes!! After leaving the ghost town we went and drove down to see the Colorado River. Something to check out that's for sure!!

Real ghost town with artefacts
May 2021 • Couples
It takes approximately 45min drive from Las Vegas to visit this place. Real neglected stuff: cars, houses, buses and even airplanes! We walked there, took some photos - it takes ~30 minutes. By the way there are souvenirs shop and toilet for visitors.
There are a few people who now live there - they conserve this town in a quality way.
Behind this place (10 min drive) you may see Colorado river.

Fun to get away from the Las Vegas Stripe
Apr 2021
About 45 minutes from Vegas you will find what was once the oldest, richest, and most famous gold mine in southern Nevada. You can take a mine tour or just take a walk and look at all that is there. Nelson Ghost Town has been showcased in movies, TV shows, and magazines. There is a crashed plane from 3000 Miles to Graceland. Be sure to spend time exploring the main building with all of its artifacts. We were told that there were 7 weddings there the weekend before we were there. There are pictures of the chapel, reception area and dance floor. We took our 3 year old granddaughter with us and she had a lot of fun looking at all the stuff.

Don't Miss Mine Tour
Apr 2021
5 couples drove up from Lake Havasu for the day. This was our second visit, first was about 6 years ago. Be sure you allow enough time to walk around and see everything, and bring a camera! Lots of interesting and fun stuff, and nice to just sit down for a bit and chill out in their environment. The mine tour is a must, DO NOT miss it!! Short easy walk and really entertaining commentary by our guide Shawna (she was a hoot). This is an all family run business, they have fun and you will too!

Old Mining Town Lost in the Desert
Apr 2021
Best to try the tour (we did not). Truly a ghost town (OK, a few people live there) there are some fun and funky things to see, and the store has, well, an eclectic array of stuff to see and buy. Nice stop on the way to the Colorado River -- end of he road. No toilet.

Really funny and entertaining tour
Feb 2021
A really entertaining tour of the mine and a lot of artifacts from back in those days. I think taking the tour makes all the difference because it's setting the stage historically and lots of stories about the place and the people there are very funny too. I am originally from Denmark and this wild west setting was really cool to see as a historic part of America and all the elements of chasing money and gun slinging, but again that's the tour and I can't imagine your mind going there from looking at the old cars and buildings alone.

Great day trip!
Jan 2021
This is a really fun day trip from Las Vegas. The store has lots of interesting memorabilia and the proprietor is interesting and knowledgeable. (watch out for the cactus!) There's a mine tour that fills up on weekends so be sure to make a reservation. The grounds have lots of artifacts and great photo ops. Both times I've been there photo shoots were going on. Afterward continue down the highway to the Colorado river for a picnic.

Cutest little ghost town
Aug 2020 • Couples
Visited on our 36th Anniversary. Enjoyed the gold mine tour which cost 15$. The drive there was very scenic. Don’t forget to drive extra 10 minutes to see the Colorado River. Lots of old antique cars to see. Say hi to Cali the friendly cute doggie, which was my most enjoyable thing there. Family owned and very friendly. Watch out for the rattled snakes.
