- vanda a2 contributionsAmazing! This place is in a class of its own!! I have had the pleasure of visiting for five days with a large group of school children on more than a few occasions and they always have the most incredible week! The instructors are fabulous and engage with the children in a supportive, friendly manner whilst always maintaining the highest safety standards. The food is delicious and plentiful and the staff are always accommodating to those with particular dietary needs. Comfy rooms and helpful staff in every area. Cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is.Visited October 2023Travelled on businessWritten 20 October 2023
- RocketQ796 contributionsAdventure Week At SkernMy 8 year old daughter did the Adventure Week last week, she had an amazing time taking part in activities such as surfing/bodyboarding, kayaking, orienteering, high ropes etc. She was well looked after throughout, was very lucky with the weather and cannot wait to go back. It's priced very reasonably and they accept Childcare Vouchers. Highly recommended.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2024
- Mel_and_JazDudley, United Kingdom28 contributionsThe quality of the accommodation, food and leadership by the instructors (Aaron, Cara and Tom) was fantastic! The company I work for placed myself and around 30 staff on an ILM course with an experiential development programme through Skern Training and skills at Skern lodge. This was over 5 days with our company values added into the training. The quality of the accommodation, food and leadership by the instructors (Aaron, Cara and Tom) was brilliant, always so professional and knowledgeable. Leadership was taught and learned by leading the team we were placed in and understanding the importance of communication and developing the team to perform tasks. Everything learned on this brilliant week was relevant to my job and the course I'm on so it was easy to relate to the academic work.Visited August 2024Travelled on businessWritten 18 August 2024

So after a mess up with the place we were meant to stay in, this place was the only place to have availability for us and after looking at it online and reading it’s a hostel type place I really did not want to stay here! When we arrived we were shown to our rooms(2 couples in 2 rooms) one room was large and spacious with 2 single beds and a private bathroom but the other room was smaller than a standard box room and had a shared bathroom which wasn’t appreciated but the morning after our first night we mentioned it to the lady at breakfast who managed to change the room to a better one which we a very grateful for. It’s the most basic of places to stay and is clean, beds are comfy, not enough space to hang towels or keep bathroom toiletries in though so had to keep them on the floor. Breakfast was pretty good, not completely fresh though, it’s kept in a warm tray thing. Overall decent stay! And a short walk into Appledore which is beautiful!!

Had a fantastic morning kayaking with Skern Lodge. It was just myself and my partner and our awesome instructor Harriet. Very impressed with their covid precautions, everything felt really safe. We had our own changing room and toilet. Kayaking was so good. Harriet was really chilled and let us go at our own pace. She showed us how to do stand up paddle boarding on the kayaks which was brilliant. We had so much fun. I couldn’t recommend the activity centre more - we will definitely be back for other activities.

We are a family of 4 with 2 very active kids of 11 and 13 on holiday in Appledore from Yorkshire. Our day at Skern with Harriet was amazing - activities on site in the morning and surfing in the afternoon. Can highly recommend. Big thank you to Harriet.

We went for a kayaking experience as a group of four and thoroughly enjoyed it. The instructor was very friendly, attentive and clearly an expert in his field. During the experience, we were taught various paddling techniques, given challenges to complete and even received a brief history lesson of the local area and the river bridge we passed.
Although you will be provided with wet suits, you should still be prepared for things to get wet and muddy! It's very likely (and not a big deal) if you fall out of your kayak once or twice (though none of group members did).

Booked a days activities with bbq for a hen party and it was everything it said and more! We did kayaking, archery and team building and had a bbq for lunch. The staff were friendly, fun and informative. The day was well organised and at a good pace and inclusive to all of us

Just spent a brilliant weekend with my friends at this awesome adventure lodge. The place was very clean and our instructor (the guy with the blondish beard) was excellent, very intuitive and very professional. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Had an amazing family afternoon here and loads of fun. Kerr our instructor was absolutely amazing and engaged us in the activities, and also developed our knowledge on climbing and high ropes etc. This was an amazing family day out and worth every penny. Not had so much fun in ages. Suitable not just for kids but also adults, thanks again for an amazing experience.
