This fort has been one of the best ones I've visited in India as it is insanely beautiful and well-preserved. The panoramic view from outside is unbelievable. One can actually observe its magesty and beauty. From inside, it is interesting to get lost through all the shortcuts and stairs the fort has. Anyway, one thing is to retell what one... More

A Must visit venue when in Jaipur, sits on top of a steep hill, which we reached by 4WD vehicles as the road is too steep for coaches. Although generally known as Amber Fort, its correct title is Amer Fort (or Palace) as it is situated in the small town of Amer some 10K from Jaipur centre. It is linked... More

One of our best Indian experiences. Beautiful hilltop fort with interesting history and beautiful views. Visited in January so was relatively quiet. Best not to hire a guide. Just wander round the labyrinth of rooms and terraces untethered! Its beautiful

This was the first of several forts/temples we visited on a recent Indian trip but our favourite, maybe because it was the first but there is a grand feel to it and fabulous views from the fort across the adjacent valleys. The Amber Fort is located a little outside Jaipur and unless on an organised trip you need to think... More

Jaipur and the trip up the Amber Fort was the highlight of my trip. The elephant ride was amazing, I loved every minute of it. The views when on it were wonderful and even more so once at the top. It looks like a scene from an Indiana Jones movie. I really wanted to walk the wall that looked like... More

Beautiful fort on a hill top. You can take an elephant ride top to the fort itself. Give minimum 3 hours

The wait in the line was tough as so many people selling stuff .They were unbelievably persistent but friendly .No does not mean No in India. Elephant ride an experience with the same sellers following you up the road to the Fort ,even throwing things up to you on the elephant Tipping is not allowed at the top but even... More

You'll probably want to ride an elephant rather than take the steep walk to the Amber Fort but you have options. Once at the fort you'll see the inlaid work and learn of how the fort could be self-sufficient for months at a time. There are large water storage tanks and great views of the garden area. Definitely a nice... More

I visited the Amber Fort and Palace after being convinced by others it was worth the trek and well - it was! The walk from the road to the palace is quite the climb as there are many stairs but once you get up there it's just amazing. The architecture of the building and the painting and mosaics inside are... More
