Nice if you like history

Nice place, quiet, calm. Nice chapel inside, a little museum with relics, worth seeing to understand the history behind it. It has been there for centuries.

Having read the reviews, I think some people have confused the hospice with the hotel across the road! There are no St Bernard dogs in winter (they go down to Martigny). The monks are wonderful and the whole thing is an uplifting experience in winter. (too many tourists in summer with the wrong attitude) The only access is by skis... More

Super friendly welcome, clean, warm, well fed & hot showers. A great ski touring destination, optional Christian retreat and stunning views.

I love this place, when I have my own children I will come back there to show them how lovely and friendly st. Bernard dogs are and how helpful they were and are in critical situations

Fascinating place; read all about is on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_St_Bernard_Hospice Even though the background is religious, you don't have to be to love it. There are two lodging options: the "hospice" itself, and the hotel in the hospice. This place is for the hotel portion. The rooms are simple, but spotless clean and functional. This time, we stayed in a renovated... More

Created an account to say this. Although this area boasts about being dog friendly, it is anything but and this lodging is the same. We traveled as a family and the staff were unhelpful, rude and above all degrading. Complete disregard of human decency and lack of manners. If you travel with dogs, be warned, you will have to pay... More

25 euros (27 Suiss Francs) for a gordon bleu lunch, and 21,5 francs just for a sausage and rösti potatoes. But luckily it tasted very good :-)

I was able to stay at the Hospice last August while walking part of the Via Francigena. My hosts were kind and welcoming. The venue was extremely clean. I paid for a shared room (It had 3 or 4 bunks in it) but got it all to myself. The bathrooms are impeccably clean but showers in timers so you have... More

My husband, two sons (26&21) and I spent this past Christmas at the hospice! We all enjoyed the hospice itself, a rugged 1000 year old fortress tucked in the pass where the weather outside was most inhospitable. The hospitality of the canons is amazing from pouring hot tea into drinking bowls from head height to engaging you into conversation and... More

We stayed in the hospice for two nights and it was amazing. If you can find your way there in the ever changing mountain conditions you're in for a real treat. After all the walking it will take to reach make your way into the entrance where you will be met by a welcome helper and guided in the direction... More
