Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Exhilarating drive on one side of the pass and hell-raising scary on the other. What we thought was going to be a fairly quick yet memorable drive ended up being a blood pressure scary drive particularly on the eastern side of the ridge. Be prepared for ridiculously narrow roads with little room for two vehicles, hardly any safety barriers and both trucks and Grand Prix-like motorcycles driving with utter reckless abandon. The western side of the ridge is much better with wide lanes and safety barriers. Hotel Belvedere and a cafe near the top has a sizeable car park where you can get out and admire the views.

Put this on your list of things to do at least once! A drive you will never forget with all the twists and turns. Stop to see the point where Sean Connery and Goldfinger were filmed. The views are breathtaking! When you return you can take one of the car trains and go through the mountain. This was one of the highlights of our recent car trip in the Alps.

We rented a car against the prevalent advice on the Switzerland forum. And we did not regret it at all as we were able to drive through the Furka pass!
I can't describe how great the experience was. It was scary to drive on those scores of amazing switchbacks and climb up and down the huge mountains but it was all worth it.
We have not seen anything so beautiful.
I was struck by the two dams on different heights we came across.
The speed limit was 80 all the way through but please don't try and drive 80 there!

It’s legendary mountain pass that was made famous from James Bond movie “Goldfinger”. It’s scenic, twisting hair pin turns.

Furka pass is simply wow!! We drove on Furka pass from Zermatt to Luzern. This is the most formidable, beautiful, tortuous pass I ever drove. For a minivan, the roads would get very narrow at times for a two way traffic. As we approached Furka from Zermatt, the view of the pass up mountain is unforgettable. On the top, we visited Rhone Glacier and the cave inside Rhone Glacier. Pass on the other side of Rhone glacier to Luzern was very narrow and winding too. Alternatively you can ride on a train through tunnel to bypass Furka Pass, but I highly recommend driving on Furka pass, and I guarantee you, you will never forget it in lifetime.

Most Fun Day!!
On our recent European vacation and after a few extravagances along the way, we realized once again that most often the least expensive things to do bring the most joy. In this case the cost of a car rental.
This ride was FUN! Caught lots of videos and photos showing US getting passed on crazy, windy stretches of road. Views are spectacular. What is not to love. In all of my travels these were memorable, thoroughly enjoyable days. Smiling and laughing through Switzerland...in a mini.

We drove over the Furka Pass on our road trip from Italy to England via Switzerland and France. Not to be missed. The views are fabulous and the civil engineering of the roads is just amazing. Plenty of motor cyclists, some of whom seemed to have death wishes but I'm sure they were just skilled riders. Many places to pull over and take photos or simply to let the faster drivers overtake. A fabulous drive although I wouldn't like to tackle it in the winter!

After 47 years in waiting (GOLDFINGER U.A. Released 11/1964) today was the day I finally got to see, drive & explore the Furka Pass. For GOLDFINGER nuts this is the ultimate. It only to me about 10 minutes out of Realp to find the spot where Bond was jumped w/ Tilly's off target bullit.
The best was climbing up the hill and finding the same rock where she took aim (one has to navigate about 40 yards at a very steep angle and duck under an electric cow fence to get there but the 'TRUE ANGLE' of Guy Hamiltons story board directed shot is worth it times 50).
Now Bond aside, the previous reviews nailed it except for one thing: One can do it @ speed if same knows what he's doing & has the proper ride.

Back in the USA, I was very excited to drive the furka pass. We were going from Lauterbrunnen to Lugano, and I was a passenger across the Grimsel pass, then took over at Furka.
Grimsel was beautiful, Furka? not sure because I had to keep my eyes on the road.
The drive itself was fun, but you have to pay attention to oncoming cars, so you both can fit on the narrow road, and when there is no traffic around, still pay attention to the edge of the cliff. All that was not a problem, I just missed out on some of the scenery which was spectacular.
There are a couple of stops for views and eats along the way.
check that it is open before going across.
