    Like going back in time....
Extremely well preserved and lovely features all over the place - milk churns and porter trolleys on the platform, traditional signage, buildings well maintained. Very interesting video / audio screening in what appeared to be an authentic guards van as well. Obviously is still a working station and when you see the steam locomotives coming through just makes you want to jump on one and take a ride. Which we did.
Thank you for a brilliant review - we're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Goathland Station and that you chose to go on a train while you were here.

    Excellent!
We got a steam train to this station to have a look round and enjoy the whole steam train experience. It's kept in an impeccable condition and the staff are very smart, professional and cant do enough to help. So much history here, that harkens back to a time long gone. Lots of tourists visiting the day we went but all well handled and organised. We'll worth a visit!
Thank you for a brilliant review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again.

    Really enjoy our visit.
Been here before to Goathland railway station. We had a nice coffee and scone in the tea room, loved how the tea room seating is done from train carriages. Enjoyed seeing one of the steam trains coming through the station. A lovely walk round the station, nice volunteer staff. Place is well kept and it's great to see a train station remaining the same as it was many years ago. Enjoyed our visit again. Thank you.
Thank you for a great review - it's always lovely to hear from returning visitors. We're very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit and will look forward to seeing you again.

    Quick stop
Went here as we have a Harry Potter fan in the family. No evidence of the film having been there, but managed to take the appropriate photo to match one with Harry and Ron so little one happy. Friendly and helpful staff. Pretty station.

    Hogsmeade
Popped here while visiting Goathland. Reliably informed by our grandson that it is Hogsmeade Station where young wizards alight to be taken by boat to Hogwarts. Spotted that there is a camping coach, but it's fully booked for this year.
Thank you for your review - we're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit - especially your grandson. We hope to see you again, perhaps when you come to stay in the camping coach next year!

A great way to see the area
Took the train from Whitby to Goathland as had to visit the station as were Harry Potter fans as well as wanting to see the area on a steam train. The whole experience was lovely, you can hop on and off the various stations and your ticket lasts a year if your back in the area. Beautiful scenery along the way
Thank you for a lovely review - we're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your day out with the NYMR and we hope to see you again.

Amazing place to visit near Whitby
We visited here while staying in Whitby. We didn’t ride on the trains but did see a few of them pull into the station. Excellent views of the trains from on the bridge. The station looks amazing and the kids were excited about it being the Harry potter station. We had a walk on the moors above the station before having an ice cream and drink from the cafe. Nice little gift shop to buy some train or Harry potter gifts
Thank you for a magical review - we're very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Goathland Station.

    Station Cafe treat
Try the station cafe for a cuppa and lovely scones - we did, best scone we've had for months! Working station, if your lucky you may see a steam train. Check the timetable outside. Parking is £3.50 for a day. Walk 5 mins into (Aidensfield) after your visit.

Car parking ridiculously expensive -still £4 regardless for how long you wanted to stay - madness in November - there were no trains running - just wanted to stop somewhere to stretch legs and have a cup of tea. Did not stop as the thought of paying £4 for about 30 mins just put me off.
Really need to rethink this Yorkshire as we were not the only ones to leave when others also saw the price to park.

Too my family to Goathland station to see the trains. The place was dangerously overcrowded , with the platform rammed with folk. The platform staff were very thin on the ground were asking people to get back from the track edge , no one was bothered. A row then ensued between one and a visitor, ridiculous. Managed to get us into the tea room , again rammed with people ,a bar was at the end and a lady was shouting , beer beer this way. We tried to join the tea line and this was crazy , just one door for in and out . The lady selling beer was clearly annoyed that the tea line was blocking her beer line. We decided to go and got covered in beer as someone poured a pint all over us. What's going on trying to get people intoxicated in those circumstances. Rammed platforms , with tons of steam train feet away. We left this crazy place and drive out of Goathland only to be greeted with 40 or so people on the bridge overlooking the railway. Some on
step ladders in wheelchairs. This bridge is the main route in , it's a blind bend and single track. Whatever happened to risk assessment and duty of care. ? Shambolic from start to end.
This was the worst experience for my daughter and mother , seemed that selling beer and cramming folk in was the way to make as much money as possible. Rang the b and b we stay at in Goathland and they said it was crazy in the village with people in orange costs racing all over the village trying to look at the trains and parking anywhere and every where. The road down to the railway Thursday evening was packed with cars all over the yellow lines. No consideration for anyone. They were fuming and are sick of the chaos this causes. Why oh why are you turning this station into a theme park , get as many in as you can and beggar anything else.

Have a trip out to Whitby on the steam train from Goathland Station. We didn't take the Train ourselves but saw it arriving at Whitby Station when we were there. Impressive

What a wonderful way to spend a few hours. We went by steam from Pickering to Goathland. This was great value at £22.50 return. Our lovely old steam train pulled us along through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and we loved it. Arrived in Goathland station which is charming. There’s quite a steep hill up to the village, but thankfully short. We had a tea and cake in the little tea room which was very reasonably priced, clean and tidy and the tea was lovely. After an hour we strolled back thankfully down the hill this time and took a few photos whilst waiting for another beautiful steam train to arrive for the journey back to Pickering. Whilst sat on a bench I found the sweetest Little Rock painted with 93/4, I hadn’t heard of Love on the Rocks before, what a lovely idea. I took a photo and left the Little Rock where I’d been lucky enough to find it, hoping it will bring a smile to another traveller. The journey back was as pleasant and I could have fallen asleep it was so relaxing. The only downside was a dear elderly gentleman who got up before the train had fully stopped and as the train braked he fell heavily. Lots of people rushed and picked him up and I do hope he’s ok, I think he should have been checked by medical staff. Please NYMR can you put up signs telling people to remain seated until the train has fully stopped. Thank you to everyone who works so hard to make this such a wonderful experience for us visiting. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return for a longer journey.
