very disappointing
Sep 2021
we booked this as a stop-off on the way home. on arrival we found a very run-down building in desperate need of a lot of TLC when entering i can only assume behind the counter was the manager/owner we had previously seen arriving in his car to let his two dogs out and unlock the main gate he was extremely abrupt and very obnoxious and rude in his tone not at all welcoming which put me off from the start
we found a very run-down zoo and animals looking very depressed and in enclosures that were obviously too small for them there could have been a path around the area by the gibbons instead of just grass as walking on damp grass we all got wet feet, the cafe was very expensive all in all wouldn't recommend this zoo to anyone as we had gone round all enclosures in less than an hour so left very disappointed. the pictures on here are not a true reflection on what it looks like at all.

Despite the website clearly stating that if you are buying tickets on line you must give it 24 hours before you can use the tickets. You have to click through 2 pages that state this (on one page it is the only statement!), before you can purchase. These visitors had bought their tickets less than an hour before arriving, when they could have purchased at the gate without any trouble. When this was pointed out to them, what might be called a "domestic situation" ensued with the lady walking away and the gentleman left to sort it out. We did this in about 1 minute, she re-entered in something of a temper, and disappeared into the zoo. The other comments are really contradicted by about every other review on here for the last year. I defy anyone to find food locally, at a "sit down" facility, that is cheaper, and if they can I will try and match it. As for pictures on here "not being a true reflection..." that must suggest some collusion with virtually every visitor who has put a picture!

Lovely Small Zoo
Sep 2021
We happened across this small zoo while in the area and had a very enjoyable time wondering around the various sections for a couple of hours or so
The animals all looked happy and well cared for albeit the surroundings were a little shabby

Zoo part excellent eating area not so great
Sep 2021 • Family
The zoo part is great for little children and the huge outdoor play area was fantastic on the other hand the indoor eating area was disgusting first of all we had to wash the table down then our food came out and they forgot a toastie from our order we asked about it they said its coming which it did 10 mins later the staff were rude just handed the forgotten toasties on the table which was ok then giving us dirty looks as we walked away from out table with out clearing it we couldn't clear it as the bins were over flowing with rubbish and the recycling plastic bottle bins were full its not as f the staff were over worked as they weren't they were just standing around or leaning on the worktops chatting. The toilets were disgusting especially in the pandemic were still living in sadly won't be visiting again once was far to much for its not just day dirt thats grim or flith us.

Great little zoo!
Aug 2021 • Couples
Great little zoo! We weren’t expecting much (found it on a drive through the village) and we were incredibly surprised at how fab our visit was! Great animals, good enclosures and really good animal care.
Spent a couple of hours wandering around and made an effort to see quite a few things twice - recommend spending decent time with the otters!

Needs some Work/T.L.C
Aug 2021 • Family
We visited here while on holiday, there is value for money as the pirate ship and soft play included.
Most of the animals were available to see and seemed ok.
It's very compact so if you are worried about close contact I probably would avoid in the holidays!
We visited the Café the food was nice enough but expensive for the quantity especially, I understand they are trying to gain bk the defecit after Covid but if charge less more people might stay rather than picnic etc. The staff were very young but pleasant and cleaning was a high standard.
It's probably a couple of hours rather than a whole day too.
Needs a lick of paint, a tidy up etc but if in area etc worth a visit.

A great collection
Aug 2021
A very well organised layout and super animals to see, we very much enjoyed the giant tortoise being shown in the grounds, having been delivered by wheelbarrow and then expert conversations with the keepers.
A great place for picnics and on site hot food was available. Great for the smaller children too with rides and play areas.

Great family day out for all ages!
Aug 2021 • Family
As locals we had been following and donating during the lockdown. We loved the Facebook diaries!
Decided to pop in today as we hadn’t been for a while since the children are now teens we didn’t think it would be as enjoyable for them. We were wrong! We had a great time as a Family.
The teen is now very interested in animal care after her visit and hopes to one day volunteer.

The staff were knowledgeable and helpful in all areas.

We have paid for a season pass and will continue to support this great organisation.

Well done to all involved!

Very good but some animals not happy!
Aug 2021 • Family
At first, when arriving at the zoo we all thought that it was going to be pretty disappointing and our visit would last about 30 minutes but it turns out that you cannot judge a book by its cover. We ended up spending a fair amount of time here and I must say I think we all enjoyed it. It was nice to see some of your less traditional zoo animals such as a Tapir and for others such as the indoor birds; how much freedom they had. The one downside I did want to mention however is that you can visibly see the stress that some of the animals are in living in captivity. There was a red squirrel running back and forth throughout a caged run in one part of the zoo and another animal inside doing the same - this was very sad to see but I think the fortunate thing but perhaps innocence of children means that they are not aware that the animals are distressed.

Apart from this I think the zoo was very good for all ages and most definitely worth the admission fee. We didn’t eat at the cafe after see negative reviews of it on here so cannot comment on that. The zoo would have received a 5 star review had the distress of animals not have been visible

A Unexpectedly Enjoyable Day
Aug 2021 • Family
We stumbled across Tripiquaria on a road trip around the south west. I must admit from the road I was dubious about the quality of the zoo, but the rest of the family were keen to go in. I was really surprised at what a lovey day we had, it is small and if you rushed around it, it wouldn't take long, but we took our time and listened to the keepers talks and feeding sessions and were there most of the day. The cafe serves basic meals and my younger son enjoyed the play parks. The keepers are extremely knowledgable and although it is obvious the whole site needs some investment, the habitats are of a nice size and the animals well cared for. The keepers also spoke of the conservation work they do there. The zoo has spacious areas to watch the animals from and it was not crowded at all, it was really nice to be able to take time at each enclosure and get some good photos.
If anywhere deserves a visit and some much needed support in these difficult times Tropiquaria is it.

A pleasant Experience
Jul 2021 • Couples
We were due to visit with my grandchildren but due to Covid they were not able to come. As I had already bought the tickets we decided to visit on our own. It was a lovely place to visit. Loved seeing all the animals. Everyone was very friendly. As it rained we visited the cafe and it was lovely.
