Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've lived here for years and hadn't realised it wasn't a professional theatre. Its modern, very well equipped and well maintained. The productions are all kept to a very high standard. There is a great youth theatre too which my daughter attends.

Kiss me like you mean it - fantastic production, acting, and script, delivered with pace and every emotion going! A play in two parts - best I have seen in 15 years of attending Summerseat Players. I can’t recommend enough. Don’t miss it!

We visited last night to watch Summerseat Players production of Ken Ludwig’s Moon Over Buffalo.
We have seen a number of previous productions which we have thoroughly enjoyed so we went with high expectations and we were not disappointed.
The Theatre Royal is a great venue which has been totally renovated in recent times. There is a bar for those pre show drinks and the auditorium itself is a great place to watch the production. Legroom is acceptable, the seats are comfortable and I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house. It’s size means that even if you sit at the back you still have a great view.
The performances by all the actors were polished and professional. It is difficult to single out anyone but I will give a special mention to Lindsay Eavis who starred as Charlotte Hay.
Overall this was a a great farce in lovely surroundings for £10 a ticket and a nice way to spend a cold January evening.

Theatre Royal is a testament to the committed volunteers who run this successful venue. It grows from strength each season and has a vibrant youth theatre as well as s choir. It is not afraid to present provocative plays and delivers consistent performances to rival any professional establishment.

Summerseat Players' current production of Goodnight Mr Tom is outstanding. The cast were excellent, particularly those playing the parts of Mr Tom, William and Zach. The production was faultless! It is hard to believe that this is an amateur group.
Well done to everyone involved in the show. Looking forward to your next performance.

Have been going to the Summerseat Players performances at the Theater Royal, for about 3 years now and haven't been to a poor performance yet! The venue itself is superb totally refurbished in the last few years and is a comfortable and cosy theatre with a great bar and modern spotless toilets.

I highly recommend seeing the current play, Pronoun. It is superbly acted by all of the young people in the cast. Very thought provoking and topical. Inspirational! Well done to all involved in its production.

Okay, the Summerseat players are extremely good and I have enjoyed several productions and thoroughly enjoyed them.
I liked their production of Macbeth, but it was a modern setting and a bit mechanistic.
Pick and choose what you go and see and enjoy it!

went to watch the play tonight of Girls Like That. The girls/ladies gave a fantastic performance tonight. each and every one of them was on point. The close seating performance around the square floor stage was amazing. They dragged you into the play and made you feel the different characters and there roles. First Play we have seen at the Theatre Royal and it certainly wont be the last. fantastic night watching some young up and coming actresses. well done to everyone involved , especially the director.
