Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were fortunate to take a private (tour for 2) version of the Invergordon Tours' Outlander tour with Jym as our very knowledgeable and accommodating driver and guide. At one point we crossed paths with Invergordon's larger Outlander bus tour whose passengers also seemed to be having a great time with a very hospitable guide (Fiona, I think). The private tour approach gave us more flexibility and the opportunity to see more places. And owner Gavin also was very helpful and responsive in our pre-trip planning. Highly recommended.

Liam showed us a great day on our tour of the Inverness and Speyside area. The itinerary was exactly what we wanted as Gavin, the owner, had worked closely with us to tailor the experience to our specific requests. Liam picked us up at our hotel, he was timely and ready to get us started for our day at 0830. Right from the start, we found Liam to be funny, informative, and extremely relaxed. Even as he drove on the small, windy Scottish roads, he created a very calming and enjoyable environment. During our tour, we visited Urquhart Castle and then enjoyed a wonderful boat ride across Loch Ness before docking for lunch at the Clansman Hotel for lunch. We were happy to have Liam join us as he continued to entertain us and share his local knowledge. Our next stop was Culloden Battlefield where Liam dropped us off with plenty of time to enjoy the exhibit and to walk around the battlefield. Upon returning to the car, Liam surprised us with his first whisky samplings, and we enjoyed tasting them right out of the boot of the car. He then took us to our first distillery where we sampled and brought some lovely whisky; while all along he shared his knowledge of the whiskies we were tasting. After the distillery, we had some more whisky samplings along with some Scottish Tea cakes and chocolate. We ended our great day with one last distillery and then Liam dropped us off right back at our hotel. We highly recommend Liam and Invergordon Tours for a lovely and enjoyable day in the Inverness area.

This tour with Gavin was the highlight of our trip to Scotland! Gavin's love of the highlands was quickly communicated and shared by us. He took us to Urquhart Castle, (after sharing a wee breakfast whiskey) from there a scenic boat ride on Loch Ness (order the Highland hot chocolate), to Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairns. He shared his knowledge, his enthusiasm and his precious whiskey and we are so grateful to have had the experience. When we go back to Scotland (and we will) we will be booking another tour with Gavin and I highly recommend you do so as well.

I signed up with Gavin because of the wonderful online reviews and was hoping he would be my guide because I expected I might be touring alone and wanted the security of a company with a solid record and reputation. It turns out he was not our guide but I was reassured by his coming to meet us and introduce us to our guide.
Two friends joined me on my adventure to find some ancient family roots and no one could have been nicer than Iian. We did not find the monument to a dismantled castle that I wanted to find, but we had many wonderful adventures. Both my private agenda and normal tourist activities plus shopping were accomplished. It was a great tour and all of us enjoyed Iian’s company. He was a careful driver, considerate, polite, helpful and interesting.
The day started with heavy fog. When we got to the beautiful viewpoint where I could overlook the area where ancestors lived, it was too cloudy to see. Iian suggested and asked our preference about stopping a bit to let the clouds lift. We did and we watched the fog lift until a gorgeous countryside and loch view opened up.
We looked around the town that bears a family name, took pictures in the cemetery, crossed the bridge where I suspect ancestors ran a ferry, plus visited Dunrobin Castle and falconry demonstration, Glenmorangie distillery, and made purchases in a great little woolen shop.
It was the best day of our cruise. Thank you Iian and Gavin. If I ever get to come back to Scotland I will be contacting you again.

We had such a great day exploring the Scottish Highlands with Willie! He picked us up in traditional Scottish garb and took us all over the area - to Urquhart, Loch Ness, Inverness, Clara Cairns and more. He arranged a fun craft beer tasting and delicious lunch and was super easy going, adjusting the itinerary for our specific needs - we had a parent in wheelchair and he made it no problem at all. He also made sure we didn’t miss the cruise ship on the way home!! He was knowledgeable and friendly, accommodating and fun. Thanks so much for the wonderful day, Willie!

I had engaged Gavin from Invergordon Tours on arranging for a private tour. With a little back and forth, we were able to set up a tour with our group of 14 and another group of 9 for a semi-private tour. Snacks were provided and even a bottle of single malt whiskey to sample. Both the driver David and our tour guide Morag were splendid! David was extremely skilled in navigating the narrow and winding roads of the Scottish High Lands simultaneously ensuring that all passengers were comfortable. Morag was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the history of all the sight and sounds. As part of our tour, we had the brief opportunity to head to a farm to see the Highland cows. For the children (and adults) in the group, this certainly was a highlight! I highly recommend Invergordon Tours for those interested in a tour of the Highlands.

Gavin, the owner of the company, was incredible with communication and organizing a guide on short notice. Jim, our guide, arrived in Scottish attire, and his personality added so much flavour to the experience. He was knowledgeable, accommodating, a great photographer and a very safe driver. For « Outlander fans », he may be named Jim, but he’ll always be our Jamie!

Our group of four had a fantastic day with Willie. We were on a UK cruise and had limited time, but we get in everything we wanted and easily got back to the ship in time.

Willie was fantastic. He learned everyone's names right away, had lots of interesting insights, and even found us some Highland cows when we asked. He was full of energy and very proud of his home and what he does. He figured out pretty quickly that I wanted to take nice photos and shared with me some good spots to take them. He also made sure our time was full and never wasted.

This was the experience we were looking for in a private guided tour, and I suspect if you're reading this, you do too. Stop searching; THIS is the right choice.

I took my mum on a Fred Olsen cruise which was excellent but the trips are very expensive so we went to Inverness with Invergordon Bus Tours. Aaron and Lorraine were brilliant. Lorraine was well informed and gave us interesting information. Would definitely recommend using them, great value for money and a really great trip.

We had a wonderful experience with our guide Jim. We were 2 couples on a British Isles cruise and booked a private tour with Ivergordon Tours. From the very first moment we met Jim we knew he would make our day interesting. Jim was wearing kilt - formal work dress as he said - and we had a tremendous 8 hour tour with him.
