Walk up the hill for a well deserved pint. A good choice of Ales on offer. The beer is well kept by the Landlord. There is a bar billiard table here! Two bars , friendly locals .

Very nice pub in a good location. Nice local feel inside and with four different really ales on pump at one time. Friendly landlady who had a goos knowledge of the beer. We shall be returning to try the Sunday lunch. I have heard good things about the food and will post as soon as I tried it !!

Very friendly, even to us visiting tourists- not just for the regulars. Great beer, best around. Lovely view from the bench towards to sea too.

Stopped off at the Clarendon last night looking for a dog and child friendly pub. Was welcomed by a rather sullen lady behind the bar that when asked if they were ok with dogs just snapped back 'as long as they're on leads'. Not a great start. Then snapped at for letting a small child near the bar. I accept... More

Got to the pub at 9.10pm to be told they finish serving food at 9pm, when there is a sign at the bottom of the hill clearing stating that they finish serving food at 9.30pm. The member of staff who we spoke to was adamant to the point of being rude, that it was 9pm, clearly he needs to read... More

initial impressions are great. Cute location up steep side alley with glimpses of the sea but boy oh boy does the landlord/owner hate people and boy doe she hate kids!! We were having a lovely day and we did all we could to get him to be nice. We wouldn't let him spoil the day. He was awful to the... More

Been here many times but not for a while because we have not visited Sandgate for some time. My wife and I occasionally have a longish walk along the front towards Folkestone, when we do we always visit this pub which in my opinion is perfect, just like pubs used to be. Very good real ale and a welcome from a nice... More

Been dragged here by curious friends in the area a few times. A deeply unfriendly expereince each time for a rough pub in an incovenient place with no nearby parking. I have no idea who these lovely people and friendly staff other reviewers have commented on are. It appears to be closely surrounded by quiet family homes too. There are... More

This pub is tucked away up a lane, so many may miss it. For the locals it is a popular venue which has had a number of different landlords. Current owner very welcoming. His 2 little dogs are an added attraction. Live music occasionally - this draws all ages for a good evening's entertainment. Last Saturday a performer called Mandrake... More
