Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When I went to this sand park I was walking along the pathway to the sand area and saw filthy bins on the side absolutely covered with hornets and goodness knows what and the next thing I saw was one of these things crawling on my face and I was so shocked so I swatted it away and it stung me on the finger. It hurt so much. It’s been about a week and if I press my finger against something hard enough it will hurt. So please take this as a warning. ( I did manage to get the stinger out by the way)

The grandchildren had a lovely time playing in the sand and on the playground. They also had a lovely time in the splash park until it started thundering and pouring with rain. Everyone made a B line for the cafe. The staff were brilliant, turned the music on and did impromptu dancing with the kids. Then two staff came out dressed as characters and did some more dancing with the kids. After the kids went back in the water park to round up the afternoon.

Second visit since Grays Beach came under new management.
Previously it was a community facility run by volunteers who worked very hard to provide a reasonably priced day out.
Now it appears to be a profit based business - food prices have shot up and make it an expensive family day out.
Yes, there is now a splash park, but 3 years ago the guy who was running the place (Pirate Pete) informed me that plans were in place with Lottery funding to provide the Splash Park.
There is now loud music in the cafeteria and on this visit as on my last visit the Gents toilet was "OUT OF ORDER" and the only facility was the Baby Change Toilet. The lavatory pan was absolutely disgusting, a really thick coating of limescale at the bottom! Changes have been made, but I would have expected hygiene to be a priority.
A new attraction is the Fun Fair - again very loud music & heavy on the bass. It appears that the park is aimed at teenagers rather than families with young children.
No, I'm not a killjoy, but if I want a typical seaside experience then I'll go to Southend. In fact that's probably where I'll go with the family in future as you can escape the noise & have a choice of eateries at more reasonable prices.

We spent hours here today in the sun, it's a really large park with sand to play with as well. They also have a new little splash area and fairground rides. I would have given a 5 star review but was shocked that after paying 6 pounds for my boys to have a ticket to go on the bouncy castle they only got 10 minutes then was told to get off! I thought 30 mins - 1 hour would be fair or a bit more for a wristband for a few hours. We went in the cafe and used the toilet and I waited to order ice creams which my boys enjoyed. There are 2 separate queues one for ice cream and soft drinks and one for hot food/drinks although they had no coffee today. We parked in the car park which is a couple minutes walk and pay and display.

Nice idea but wrong area to have it in. Took a walk down to it as everyone said Grays has a beach. It actually horrified me. All I kept thinking was I would never let my kids in there. God knows what animals have been in that sand. Having no actual water to was away any waste products left by animals as it isn’t really a beach so no sea going in and out. Nice try but no no no. Give two instead of one for effort.

This is a really nice park, but to call this a 'beach' or an 'urban beach' is ridiculous when there's no water in sight. It's really just a nice park with a big sandpit. The cafe also serves well-priced food but be warned they're understaffed, so there's often some lengthy waits.

Took my little ones thought they play in water area but no water park or access to the sea side... totally disappointed and travel back to southend-on-sea.... no point of coming here to only sit on the park....
