About
Maritime heritage boatyard and museum. We are run entirely by volunteers. As well as running our museum we are also busy restoring and sailing historic boats. We run the annual River Rally where a flotilla of small boats cruise up the Pembroke River to the castle, a great day out for all, so keep an eye on our website for next years event. We now have the former lifeboat from Fishguard, namely Charterhouse, which we are in the process of restoring. She has a fantastic heritage, so well worth the visit on its own. There is also a remote control boat pond for the youngsters to test their skills.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We discovered the museum quite by accident after our ferry was delayed. We were greeted by some of the friendly volunteers and given a very informative tour by Luke. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and spent a good couple of hours with some of the very talented volunteers who are restoring many vessels at the museum. We will certainly visit again given the opportunity. Thank you for the tea.

More than a museum, an active workshop. A practical yard, telling you more about boat building, boat repairs and the people who carried them out than many larger, more prestigious museums. A gem - and a joy for me. I regret only having a short stop there. I will go back.

A very interesting museum in a quiet former dry dock, near where the Royal Navy dockyard once was. Parking nearby was easy (and free), as was entry to the site. Whilst we were there we saw enthusiasts working on several boats but they gave us time and we were treated to an extensive tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and well able to answer my questions (and even able to interest my long suffering wife, who I've dragged to many nautical places over the years!). Well worth a visit, we actually spent far longer than an hour there, and I wish them every success for the future.

This is a little gem. We'll worth the guided tour you are offered on arrival. So much history is in here. From the RNLI boat being restored to the indoor museum full of artifacts.
As a disabled, mobility scooter user, I found everywhere accessible. When we got to the workshop they opened the huge doors so I could see everything.
There is an escape room in one of the boats which is a great addition.
Really enjoyed our visit here and would recommend to everyone...children will be fascinated.
There is no admission fee but they appreciate a donation.

We were immediately impressed to discover it was run purely by volunteers. A full tour of the museum was given by a volunteer who had an infinite knowledge of both the museums collection and the restoration work being carried out on numerous vessels. It was a very friendly place and well worth a visit.

Really interesting working museum run by very enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. Plenty to see of stories, local maritime history, current restoration projects and old craft full of history. A volunteer walked us round and was able to give us interesting insights about many of the craft. We met another of the volunteers who is currently restoring the 1909 lifeboat there. Really talented volunteers bring the boats back to their former glory and the stories back to life. Well worth a visit. We were there a good 2 hours and could have stayed longer. Remote control boats for children to enjoy. No entry fee, but donations are welcome and we definitely wanted to donate. Pembroke Dock’s boat building history would be in danger of disappearing without the tenacity of the volunteers who had a vision and despite many challenges, have brought it to life. This is definitely a place that will continue to grow and we will be returning for the next instalment!

It was Sunday 17th September and I was staying in Pembroke Dock. I decided to go for a walk and stumbled on this museum. I asked if there was anyone that could show me round, a man who told me his name was Luke started to show me around the whole museum, I clouding the slipway. His knowledge of each body and the exhibits was astounding, I can only say it was like walking around with a talking book, intact we talked about other things, (my fault) and he was knowledgeable about that as well and recommended a book for me to read. I was sorry I had to leave at midday to meet my sister for lunch, but I had been there for 2 hours, and met two amazing people, Luke and Sid, they are volunteers and a credit to the museum.
