    lots to see
we had some time to spend and chose to go to the gardens and shops in Trentham. Some dining places are available but the place was busy so hard to get into some of them at lunch time. There was a variety of shops. Walked the gardens for a bit but it was cool. Needed a warmer day and more time to take advantage of the location, lake and gardens
Dear Phil835, Thank you for writing a review of your recent visit to Trentham. We hope you'll be back soon on a finer day to experience Trentham at its absolute best. Our annual meadows around the Lakeside walk are currently enough reason for a return visit, let alone the other beautiful areas around the estate on a sunny day. Thank you for visiting, we hope you see you again soon. Best Regards, Team Trentham

    Brilliant Summer Concert
Fantastic. Razorlight/Kaiser Chiefs concert. So well organised. Loads of parking, no queueing anywhere throughout the venue. Security personnel so helpful and friendly. Can't fault it. Well done Trentham Gardens.

    Great dusk beaver safari
I went on the dusk beaver safari, with Harvey as our guide. He was a very knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate guide. Harvey was great! We were lucky to see the beavers in the water. It was great to see the gardens after closing and seeing it so quiet. Would definitely recommend this wildlife experience.
Thank you for your amazing review of our Dusk Beaver Safari! Harvey is so happy to read your feedback, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We really appreciate your recommendation, and hope to see you again at Trentham for more of our Wildlife experiences. Best Wishes, Team Trentham

    Great autumnal day out!
The atmosphere in TG is lovely. It is quiet, relaxed and the only sounds were those of the birds. At this time of the year, the colours are fantastic and throughout there are useful notes and guidelines to add to the interest. Paths are good and solid so no problems there. An amazing day out with some history thrown in around the ruins of the old house. Thoroughly recommended!
Dear timatten, Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Trentham Gardens. We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit to the estate! This time of year is so special, and the woodland and gardens look spectacular in their autumn colours. Thank you so much for visiting. All the best, Trentham

Rubbish market , terrible Xmas event
Absolutely shocking Christmas festival ! No Christmas feeling at all , the market was the same as it was when it was free in November, no variety in the stalls , all food , jewellery and candles, & some dog stalls . Were have all the lovely stalls gone from last year , this is the same every month now , just rubbish ! And to charge us to see the same stalls is a disgrace! The food was too expensive, the atmosphere was awful, lots of queues and nothing Christmasy at all ! The events team needs sacking as this was robbery !
Dear trulyscrumptious2018, We're very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience at Trentham Christmas Festival. We are taking all feedback on board, and will be making improvements to future events as a result. We hope it won't deter you from future visits to the Gardens or wider estate, thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience. Best Wishes, Team Trentham

    Beautiful gardens
Lovely place to visit. I try to go every week for a lovely walk around the lake and the Italian Gardens, with a stop for a delicious cappuccino in one of the cafes inside the gardens. There’s always lots of interesting plants and wildlife to see and I enjoy observing the changing seasons. I particularly love the Spring bulb festival but there is lots to see all year round. We often stop to chat to the lovely staff working in the gardens. Day tickets are a bit expensive but the annual pass is fantastic value.
Thank you for your lovely review of the Gardens and Annual membership. We're so pleased to hear that you are a regular visitor, and that you recommend our annual membership for fantastic value. We're definitely looking forward to our Spring Bulb festival which is just around the corner, and we're starting to see hopeful signs of spring emerging in all areas of the gardens. Thank you so much for your kind comments. Best Regards, Team Trentham

    Very enjoyable experience.
We didn’t have a lot of time to explore the gardens but we were very impressed with what we saw. It would have been good to have more information about the relationship of the mansion house, the church and the garden, for instance a plan of the house as it was and is now. Nevertheless, a very enjoyable experience.
Dear John, We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit to Trentham, thank you for writing a 5 star review. We appreciate your feedback about the Trentham Hall information, we do have a small section of signage in the Eastern Pleasure gardens but if you were short on time then you might not have spotted it unfortunately. If you're interested in Trentham's history have recently released a new guidebook to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. We're so grateful for your amazing review, thank you so much for visiting. Saturday Night Beaver
Great evening safari with Harvey and Donna. Fully recommend “Saturday Night Beaver” where you’re treated to cheese and wine whilst waiting for the beavers to come out. Harvey’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the rewilding project makes the evening all the more special. Will definitely be back again soon.

    Beaver Safari
We live nearby and are annual pass holders, couldn't miss seeing beavers in their natural habitat. We arrived at 6pm and after a brief intro Harvey drove us to the far side of the leak where we enjoyed our cheese & wine - its so peaceful when all the crowds have departed. We didn't see any beavers from the picnic site so Harvey took us to the other side of the lake. 1 of our group saw ripples on the lake, it turned out to be a beaver! It swam right up to where we stood, feeding from the undergrowth -mission accomplished ! Harvey and Donna were amazing, very knowledgable and enthusiastic about all the wildlife on the estate. Can't recommend the tour enough!

Booking for the garden visit can be done online or in person. If you have previously booked for the monkey forrest (we had done so earlier on the same day) you can get a pound off per person. Staff were very friendly.

We spent about three hours in the garden. The Italian garden is beautifully kept and we enjoyed having a look there. We also spent time at the adventure playground which had separate sections for toddlers and older children.

The lake itself was beautiful and the scenery stunning. Our daughter was dressed as a fairy complete with wings and very much enjoyed finding the fairies on our walk around the gardens.

There is also a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. We met many lovely people on our way around the gardens. One lady suggested seeing the sculped dragon which my son was very excited about as we were able to walk through it. The sculptures dotted around the park are really whimsical. There is a train trail but unfortunately this is unavailable at this time ( due to covid-19) as is the boat ride across the lake.

I would suggest wearing trainers or good walking boots and allowing plenty of time to walk around the lake. It really is a worthwhile attraction and I hope to visit again soon.

Thank you for your wonderful in-depth review of the gardens. It sounds like you had a lovely time here at Trentham, we're so pleased to receive your amazing feedback. Your daughter must have loved being a fairy for the day!! The fairies and willow sculptures really add some magic to the lakeside walk, children can just lose themselves and really let their imaginations run wild. We hope you'll be back again soon. Don't forget that you can upgrade your day tickets to annual tickets too to make your purchase go further, and enjoy the gardens all year round. Thank you again for your lovely review.

Nov 2019
I have marked this down mainly because of the admission charge during winter. We did get their reduced rate but in November it is essentially the bare bones of the place. Being very cold there was no inclination for hanging around.
We got there at opening time and were shocked to see how many people were already within the grounds. Turns out if you are a member you can get in one hour earlier than everyone else. It is obvious that the locals utilise this benefit as a dog park.
Plenty of parking and shopping area outside like a permenant Christmas market although not all open when we were there. Large garden centre accessible from same car park. Might be a better choice being undercover and free to look round, especially if using the area as a journey breaking point to further north as we were.
We have visited the estate in spring before and I am sure the bulbs will be spectacular again. It was good to see a decent workforce tidying up edges and planting more bulbs for the future.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, We’re sorry to hear that you felt the cost of the day tickets were not the best value for your visit, we do have various offers and discounts throughout the year including 2/4/1 vouchers and the WINTER25 promotion and the best place to find these are on our website. Tesco Voucher can also be used against the cost of our day tickets. We do have a lot of visitors who have taken out our Annual Passes as they believe they are more value for money and to take advantage of the benefits, especially the hour earlier and hour later entrance into the Gardens than everyone else. We would suggest that the best times of year to visit especially for floral interest would be May/June and late Summer, keep an eye out for the Garden Tours that take place throughout the year too which will give you the opportunity to hear about the progress of the gardens. We hope you'll be visiting again soon and to see what changes have happened during Spring/Summer,

Sadly I have been members of Trentham Gardens for a number of years and recently it has become extremely disappointing.

The gardens are decidedly lacking in care with once beautiful areas now overgrown.

What was even worse was the lake being completely overtaken by Blue Green Algae and how it is being allowed to run down the waterfall steps and off into the water course outside the Trentham area. This I found extremely worrying because of how toxic this and the risk it poses to animals when speaking with the staff they seemed unbothered by it.

Sadly it seems the new owners that have taken over the gardens since its sale they seems to have been a huge shift.

It is absolutely not worth the membership money when compared to National Trust or English Heritage memberships which for a family both cost less and give you access to much more and maintained to a much higher standard considering the state that Trentham Gardens has fallen too.

A change in their policy also means they send staff members round the park to ensure visitors dressed in wedding attire don't take photos of themselves. This is apparently due to Trentham Gardens being open for weddings next year and only wanting wedding style photography to be done by their own or "approved and authorised photographers".

A couple with a mobile phone wanting a lovely walk and a few nice photos having already paid the entrance fees I'm sure won't change the income too much for the new owners but apparently this is now banned!!!

They absolutely will send staff to walk round following you too. I observed a young couple having had a registry office wedding due to constant covid cancellations arrive to pre booked tickets only to be told at the entrance that despite the wedsite terms and conditions not yet being updated they would not be allowed to take any photos. They asked about a refund and were told to either take the booking as paid or email and request a refund. They chose to walk around the lake and to my surprise as the entered a member of staff took a walkie talkie call and proceeded to follow them the entire way around the park!!!

They had nothing but mobile phones yet staff were dispatched to monitor them.

I will not be renewing my annual membership anymore.

This place used to be one I loved to take my family too now it seems unkempt, positively toxic in regards to the Lake and utterly cold in terms of the members of staff and the new attitude the gardens have taken.

One has to seriously wonder where the membership cost is going coupled with the high rates they charge for the businesses occupying the shopping Village!!!

We appreciate your honest feedback, we're incredibly disheartened to read your comments. Resolving the blue green algae issue is our top priority, which is why you'll notice equipment around the lakeside walk. Trentham staff are working side by side with the Environment Agency to resolve the problem. Various changes and setbacks have affected Trentham, but we are working hard to recruit new faces to support our already established outdoor operations team. Given the timeframe, new ownership is not a relating factor to the feedback you have raised. Various lockdowns and shortage of resources has impacted us, but new ownership once established will inject resources into the gardens to get the standard as amazing as possible. Thank you for taking the time to write this review for us. We'll be happy to discuss this further with you via email at enquiry@trentham.co.uk.

We went for the Christmas at Trentham winter walk . We paid £20 each for 4 people and another 4 of us on a family ticket . Lights were spectacular very pretty . However , we were told there were food stalls inside the walk , and as all the food shops were closing at the same time we decided to eat inside whilst on the walk . However the prices were extortionate and limited availability much Of the food crossed out food boards . My two grandchildren had 4 marshmallow on a stick to toast and a hot chocolate £7 per child . Would also like to have seen Santa with a little gift for children at the end of the walk . My advice eat before you come or at least before you go into the walk

Visited Trentham Gardens as a girlie weekend break and to see the craft fair that was hosted there. The on-line booking system was extremely easy as was the arrivals system. The whole process was efficient and smooth. Inside the gardens were beautifully tended and a pleasure to walk around. The sculptures in the gardens are amazing and add a quirky and interesting twist to the visit. We didn’t use the cafe’s inside the park as the good weather and craft fair had brought a lot of people to the gardens and there were queues due to COVID restrictions so we chose to eat in the shopping village just outside the gardens which had plenty of choice

I visited with my two teenage children. Very well organised with a one way system
We walked around the lake, finding all the sculptures. We stopped at the end of the lake for cakes and drinks then walked back towards the tea rooms.
Lunch at the tea rooms was delicious. Very well organised, speedy service & reasonably priced
We were very lucky with the weather & the rain stayed away
We then finished off the gardens before having a stroll through the shopping village. We had Monkey Forrest booked too so great day all around!!

Trentham Gardens Summer Concert review - we have been coming to the Trentham Gardens summer concerts for years. This year there has been a change in security firm operating at the events. After paying and attending 8 of the concerts I have come to the conclusion that 1)either Trentham have cut costs and not paid the security firm for enough personnel or 2)the security firm is totally inefficient! On entry the rules appear made up as they go along, for instance one security tried to tell me no cans were allowed and wanted to confiscate my 2 cans of coke, I had to waste time explaining I was allowed 4 cans despite only having two. Some people were having bags searched others not, some having items including large brollies confiscated others not,. Then during the event there seemed to be far less security staff perhaps they had been sent home? The calibre of people being allowed through security is something else, a few of our nights have been totally ruined by large groups of revellers that are way way too drunk, smoking in the arena even though it's not allowed alledgedly, smoking weed, throwing their empty dirty food wrappings at us, spitting at us and spilling their drinks over our seats. Security no where to be seen!! We even witnessed one visitor growling like something possessed!! Clearly he has taken something! If your idea of a fun night involves having ferral individuals high as a kite being abusive towards you, with zero security presence, having women walking in on men in men's toilets as there is no marshal then this may be the place for you. If Trentham argue that there is security or marshals present then they need thoroughly investigate !! Seriously if you are a half decent human being you will regret ever leaving your gold fish home alone to attend one of these death waiting to happen events!

Visited today, it was ok but won’t be back. £24 to walk around a lake is way overpriced. I wouldn’t say the flowers were amazing as others state nor the wildlife. Maybe I’m too used to seeing geese swans and ducks on my daily dog walk At home for free. ( I suppose there were the black swans) no other wildlife to be seen.
The cafe was open but did not use.

I know the rules of dogs being on a lead and we did have one on her lead but the 12 year old girl who is BLIND, has kidney failure and cushings disease and just follows behind us when out of her pram was happily ambling along. We had passed a few people who were loving watching her and we passed a Trentham worker who never said a thing. Then this woman (fellow dog walker) pointed out that she didn’t have a lead on and it was a rule. One that I felt fine breaking as she really is doing absolutely nothing apart from following my scent and voice, the other dog on her lead was further away from us. Of course my non confrontational husband put daisy back in her pram then, so she didn’t get a walk. She cannot walk good on a lead she gets too frustrated.
This busy body ruined my day really.
I love browsing the shops at Trentham and in the last two weeks have spent a small fortune on various things but will not pay to walk around the lake again.
We will stick to tatton park where well behaved dogs can run free through sheep and deer and it only costs us £8 per car.

Thank you for getting in touch with us regarding your visit. We're sorry to hear that the dog lead rule upset your visit. We appreciate that for yourself with a lovely patient calm dog that this is an inconvenience. However, the problem lies when irresponsible owners don't have control over their dogs and then there is a danger to yourself and of course your dog. So for safety the rule must apply to everyone's dog. The rule is to ensure that everyone is mindful of other dogs and to keep dogs like yours safe. Thank you for your feedback regarding the gardens too.

Visited Trentham Gardens - the first time in 40 years! was last here as a child with my parents and the place is so very different...

I wanted to visit to do the Fairy Trail as I have been following the work of Robin Wight for some time now and this did not disappoint. The Fairy sculptures are dotted around the lake and make the place, especially around the wooded really magical.

The Trentham Estate is a lovely day out and the walk around the lake, whilst quite long for some people is very doable with lots of stopping off points for some R&R and a small cafe half way around.

There are a number of elements to the gardens - the more formal Italian gardens with views across the lake which is stunning or the more natural route around the lake, with lots of wildlife to see and birdsong.

The Trentham Estate also has a small shopping area and some lovely cafe's and restaurants if you want to make the day of it.

All in all we felt it was worth the entrance fee of £12 and will definitely visit again - hopefully before the next 40 years!

Thank you for your 5 star review of the gardens. We're so pleased that you've returned to the gardens after 40 years, that's absolutely amazing! So many visitors have lovely memories of the swimming pool, the railway and of course the fantastic concerts in the ballroom. Hopefully as you say it won't be 40 years until you visit again! Thank you again for you lovely review.
