Su tamaño es muy pequeño pero su historia grandiosa. Le fue concedida a la localidad de Cenicero por una proeza militar en la primera guerra Carlista. Al parecer un grupo de voluntarios de la localidad, atacó a todo un ejército de miles de soldados para retrasar su avance; cuando ya no podían resistir más y para protegerse de las represalias subieron a la Torre de la Iglesia y hundieron las escaleras para que no podrían subir a por ellos. Miles de soldados no pudieron hacer nada y después de un tiempo se retiraron por miedo a que llegasen refuerzos a ayudar a los locales. Durante el franquismo fue retirada pero una persona del pueblo la conservó y en 1976 volvió a su pedestal.
En cuanto a Cenicero, es un pueblo vitivinícola, en el se producen vinos como: Marqués de Cáceres, Berberana, Lagunilla, Paternina, Marqués de Griñón, Rioja Santiago, Bodegas Riojanas, SantaDaria,...

No esperes ver la de NYC.
La leyenda dice que un alcalde fue a Nueva York, le gustó la estatua y quiso traer una que encargó a la misma empresa, por supuesto más pequeña.
No se si es verdad.
Desde luego es una cosa curiosa y está en pleno centro, sin más pretensiones.

En la plaza del Dr. San Martín de Cenicero, está esta réplica de la estatua de la Libertad, erigida en recuerdo a un hecho de armas de los vecinos del pueblo durante la primera guerra carlista.
Es curiosa y pequeña y bien se merece una fotografía.

la verdad es que esta estatua es bastante pequeña y cutre. le falta mucho color y los edificios de alrededor no ayudan a que esta se vea mejor.

Este munumero se crea en 1897 por parte de un grupo de ciudadanos que se unen para construir un monumento en memoria de los heros de la `Torre de Cenicero´ los cualres resistieron durante 26 horas el asedio de las tropas carlistas.
