The church is a gem in Sospel. Paintings on the ceiling and a guilded alter. One would not expect a church this large in a village of Sospels size. The town itself is in the foothills of the alps and about 18 kilometers north of...More

Sospel is a super town, full of history, stunning views and lovely old buildings. The cathedral is huge, sat in a large square with interesting tiling on the floor and pastel coloured houses either side. The cathedral itself has recently been refurbished and looks amazing....More

We didn't have much time to visit the cathedral as we had a train to catch. Sospel's inhabitants are very proud of their cathedral and they a right to be. All the renovation work is remarkable, finely done with a lot of taste.

The baroque Cathedral of Saint Michel built in the 17th century faces across a big square lined with arcaded and pastel painted houses. The building seems out of proportion to the size of the town. It was built by the town’s residents after an outbreak...More

Overlooking the tiny village, this church is a marvel. There are no crowds touring Sospel, no tourists to spoil the adventure. See the ruins of the castle (which are seamlessly integrated into the modern architecture) and this cathedral which sits right next to the movie...More

In the square up from the river. Notice the belltower built earlier then go inside to see the wooden panel altarpiece. Note the height of the building. Look around here and elsewhere in the region. Any higher cathedrals?
