Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

AVOID, serious eye injury waiting to happen!!! I took my 2 year old son to enjoy a bank holiday ride. We were lucky to find a seat at the front, little did we know what was about to occur. Halfway round the journey my son screamed in agony, I looked down and could see a piece of hot coal in his eye, the young lad who was driving said, that will be some ‘ash’. Luckily I was able to remove the coal from his eye instantly. A clear plastic screen between engine/driver and passengers would prevent any coal from the engine hitting passengers. When I raised the incident with management I was told ‘this was an act of god’ and in 21 years has ‘only’ happened a few times. One time is enough. They didn’t seem too concerned in making the steam engines safe going forward and simply offered an apology. AVOID! My sons eye whilst a little swollen seems ok on this occasion, in the future the next kid may not be so lucky.

Have been here many times over the years with each of my 5 children. It's a great place for a quick local day out. Prices are very reasonable and last time we went it was £1.00 each.
The kids (and accompanying adults!) love the train ride and there is also now a small shop with second hand toys. Staff are always friendly and enthusiastic.
The special events are always very good. We have been to the Halloween and Christmas events and enjoyed them.
The ride itself is fun and runs alongside a river with a play area in the middle. There are some 'unique'/bizarre toys (eg Mr Blobby!) there but the kids loved it and it is nice on a good day to stop off there and come back on a later train.
We often combine a trip here with a walk around Chadkirk (round the corner) or visit the garden centre itself.

The dragon minature railway is a lovely place to take children, they have diesel and steam locomotives hauiing the minautre coaches around the track, lovely staff who help to run this volunteer minature railway. During the summer months they have a lovely children's play area open, which can be hired for parties. Often they have themed events at Christmas and other times of the year. A lovely place for all the family.

The railway is lovely the ride has got a nice view on the ride, when you come out the 1st tunnel you get a really nice view of the river next to you and it is very well priced at £1 ticket each and I’m glad that I’m volunteering here next year

A ride on the little trains. Kids went on both a steam and a diesel train. It goes around car park then into I suppose a secret garden area. Staff very friendly defiantly worth a visit with the kids. Grandad like it to.

When I was there, you had a choice of travelling behind 2 different steam locos or a diesel. I was impressed by the signalling system that ensures the trains are run safely. The "secret" children's play area, accessed from a station on the line was a surprise!

Railway goes round the car park then through a tunnel to a "secret park" my 23month old loved, "LOVED" the train ride and the park with its rustic charm bit like someone's back garden but lots of toys to play on. Then back on the train to get back. £1.00. went on the train twice! And got to sit in the front of the train and blow the horn. The staff are lovely and very friendly.
Then you can go to the garden centre there is a soft play area £1.50 right next to the cafe. Great way to spend the afternoon.
