Great place to walk the dogs always so much going on. Good footpaths, lots of dog bins and today the kids got to help with the locks, so lucky to have this on our doorstep

Beautiful scenery. Nice serene. Unfortunately the roads are awful to drive in there. I surprise the local Council did not supervise this. As the place attracts so many tourists. We almost broke our car driving in these awful roads.

Awesome walk by the canal. Watch boats travel along going through numerous locks. Plenty of places to rest. Lots to see, wildlife is plentyful. Some lovely places near to have a brew or pint

A fascinating relic of the industrial revolution, an impressive chain of canal locks, bridges and basins leading to an aqueduct. Watching narrow boats progressing up and down the waterway is entertaining. Marple is quaint town, on the edge of the Peak District

Walk from Marple locks to the stunning viaduct which has been restored. You will marvel at this old but still used structure. Walk on to Compstall by the side of the river and then visit either Etherow Country park or through Brabins Park to Marple...More

A beautiful place to visit and such educational to watch how the locks worked. Our child was mesmerized and we spent a good hour watching the boaters worked on the locks, the mechanism and beautiful canal. Definitely worth a visit!
