Friendly service. Videos are worth watching. Lots of stuffed animals so vegetarians and animal lovers beware! Plenty of info. Great photos. They can help with guidance on walks.

The staff was very helpful. You can obtain maps and directions to explore the area. The only thing is I wish more info is available online, e.g. the hiking trail conditions

The Sounkyo visitor center has some information available in English regarding the mountain, national park, and town of Sounkyo. The informational videos are worth watching and are available with English subtitles. The staff is very willing to help even if you don't speak Japanese, though...More

We could not go on the ropeway because it was too windy, so spent some time in the Visitor Centre which is right next door. Excellent displays and photos, with some stuffed local animals, such as bear, deer, stoat, etc.
