We went on a rainy day, which was a little unfortunate as we couldn't see Mount Komagatake from the observation points. However the mists did give off a different and mysterious feel to the park. We did not hike a long way - we did the shortest hike path and took a boat instead, which took us nearer to Mount Komagatake (who was shrouded under the heavy mist). The sky was just very overcast and grey, but we still enjoyed the boat ride. Would love to visit again on a clear day.

We rent electric bikes to circle around the lake, and it was wonderful. Not touristy at all, during the whole time biking, it’s just us, very peaceful and relaxing.

It was already beautiful and nice to walk when I was there, but I felt it could be even better in other seasons. Could take many memorable photos as it as not too crowded when I was there. Regretfully I only spent a short period of time there, but I would love to return and go on other parts of the walking trails to absorb more of the beauty of nature.

We visited the park on our drive from Hakodate to Lake Toya. Picturesque scenery with forests, lakes, bridges & Mount Komagatake. Not crowded. There are a number of easy walking trials, great for peaceful & relaxing strolls. The many bridges with steps may prove to be challenging for the elderly folks though. Worth a visit!

Having read about the ‘landscape of soaring mountains, glistening lakes and dense forests’ we decided a guided excursion along nature trails and across bridges was a good idea, It was absolutely beautiful and, although the trees were still wintry in mid April, it did offer some superb photo opportunities. A worthwhile trip.
