Very impressive, original gold tombs of the four Fujiwara family clan. Enjoy the long walk leading to this area, although it is definitely not barrier free. For more, check hiddenjapanguide.com

It requires some uphill walking at the beginning. The gilded hall is stunningly beautiful and elegant but photo is not allowed.

It's a bit of a hike up the hill from the car-park, but the view from the rest spot half way up is worth a few moments pause. There are a number of temples here, including a massive temple (to the right as you walk...More

A major historical site, consisting of beautiful temple grounds and national treasures. The Sankozo (Museum) collection is a must for Japanese history buffs. The Golden Hall is an amazing work of art and craftsmanship.

The main attraction, the Golden Hall (konjikidou), is visually impressive despite its age. However, the high price just to look at it (800yen!) may be a little off-putting. You will have to walk up a steep slope to get to the actual temple, but do...More

Chusonji(中尊寺 ) was a temple complex conprising many halls and buildings including the Main Hall (Hondo本堂) and the famous Golden Hall (Konijido 金色堂). The temple was said to exist in the year of 850, but more likely was built in 1095. Whatever, there’s at least...More
