Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best observation point in utoro part of shiretoko. Well known spot of photo taking and sunset shots. So it can get abit crowded at times.
You can get a good view of the moutain range and the bay area below. When the drift ice are around, good place to shoot the time lapse videos too. A small parking spot is just beside this viewpoint for a quick stop over. But again depends on the crowd.
Overall, a must go if you are in this area.

Cape Puyuni is a lookout approximately 5-10 minutes’ drive away from the town of Utoro. There is a special lane by the main road where you can stop your vehicle to admire the breath-taking view from the lookout. The view mainly consists of Utoro town as well as the bay and the Sea of Okhotsk. Our tour stopped by while coming back from the Shiretoko Goko, and we managed to catch the sunset at the Cape itself. The views there are quite beautiful and scenic, but I recommend only stopping by if you’re on the way, no need to specially drive all the way out for this.

Good view of the town Utoro before entering the National Park. Parking available on the side, then cross the road for the view

Stopped by this area for Star Gazing tour unfortunately the night was covered in clouds and was postponed. However, we were able to see some night animals instead, deer quietly munching grass, some fox hunting fish in a small creek and best of all - saw a lone Shiretoko fish owl patiently perched on a rock near the ocean front watching or to catch fish. It was an amazing experience despite the cold night (it was around 1030PM)
