元の仙美里駅に数点の写真が展示してある程度の資料館で少しがっかりしました。
半分はバスの待合室にもなっています。
わざわざ立ち寄るところでもないと私は思いました。

旧ふるさと銀河線の仙美里駅の駅舎内に、こちらの仙美里鉄道資料室がありました。この旧仙美里駅は、現在は待合所付きのバス停にもなっているんですね。
こちらの鉄道資料館は大きなものではありませんが、旧ふるさと銀河線時代の、そしてさらに古い国鉄時代の池北線時代の資料が展示されています。年表などもあって、池北線時代からの変遷もわかりやすくまとめられていました。

十勝の中でも、本別、足寄、陸別は木材で栄えた町々で、鉄道も早くから施設されていた。木材産業が下火になり、営林署が閉鎖されたりして、この地域の鉄道は惜しまれつつ姿を消した。そういう歴史を知っていると、写真展示だけでも面白い。汽車に替わったバスのバス停というのも面白い！

ふるさと銀河線時代は、本別の隣駅として賑わいを見せていた仙美里ですが、現在も尚、駅舎は保存されていて、その内部がこちらの鉄道資料室として運用されています。池北線からふるさと銀河線に移行した際の、懐かしい門出の写真など、鉄道ファンとしては、涙なしには見られない展示品の数々に感動しました。尚、帯広と陸別とを結ぶ十勝バスの路線バスがこちらでトイレ休憩をする関係で、バス旅の束の間の時間を利用しても見物できるのが良いです。
