Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was still early so the autumn leaves were only scattered here and there, but they were still beautiful. The stone pavement was an unfamiliar sight to me, so I'm glad I went. The view from the boat was great. The boat ride down the line was shortened because there was little water. It was a little disappointing.
There were many shops on the road to the stone pavement, so it was fun to eat while walking around.

As the name translates into, iwadatami is really flat rocks arranged like a tatami, and from a distance it looks like its floating on a river. We went here on a side trip, to get some lunch (at the shotengai) and decided to drop by. There is a river cruise (different prices, cheapest at 1600 yen, I think). But if you are not up to any water adventure, you can just walk along the river through the rocks. The rocks are not high (but probably slippery after rain or snow), so children and oldies can walk safely. There are many restaurants leading to the river, so it's a sure thing you will not get hungry. I am not sure of the public transportation, but it looks near the Nagatoro Station, though this is quite far if you are coming from Tokyo. I would suggest combine it with other trips in the Saitama Area (like we did), to make the gas/transportation cost worth it.

Our room at Choseikan overlooked a portion of the rocks so we watched them daily as the trees changed color as the sun filtered over the rocks and as the tourists came and went to walk along the paths.
We walked on the rocks on two different days. Although it seemed like a long way from one end to the other on the first day, once we were familiar with the route and knew where we were going and where we would come out, the path became much shorter.
We bought a picnic lunch on the tourist shopping street and sat on the rocks to eat. We stopped at several places mentioned in our maps and managed to find all the marked spots on the tourist map (take a photo of the map posted around town before you begin your walk) We choose not to take a boat ride, but we did photograph many of the boats and kayaks as they passed by.
The end of the path comes out near Momiji Park, another pleasant place to visit (and a park that has a public toilet if needed).
Be sure to wear good walking shoes as the rocks are slippery in places, especially where they are damp.

Iwadatami (tatami rocks) park is an obligatory place to visit in Nagatoro. It's very close to the train station and the walking street that leads to the park is full of restaurants, ice cream and souvenir shops. The park itself is very small, consisting of the rocky riverside and scenic views of the greenery. It's specially beautiful in fall, when the trees are multicolored. Boat and kayak rides are available.

I had a fun boat ride in Nagatoro with my family. It was a little expensive for a short trip but for Japan it is normal I guess. It was a cherry blossom season so we were blessed with natural beauty🌸

We travelled here a few days before Obon and as a result it was still pretty quiet, lots of people around but no lines! Had lots of fun climbing over the rocks with our children and tool some lovely photos. We took a short boat ride down the river, which was excellent. The guides are true locals, very proud of their home and happy to share info about the river and the area. Their commentary combined with the excitement of the river trip down very mild rapids on a beautiful river is a great combo. We took our children 4 and 6 on the boat and felt completely safe at all times, they loved it. Our 6 year old boy also enjoyed picking up rocks by the river there is a great variety. The boat ride includes a short bus trip back to the starting point. After the boat trip we walked up the shopping street and across the main road to the rope way. In the end it is a walk of approx 1km and the last bit is a steep hill. Once we got to the car park at the ropeway we realised their is a free bus!! We took that on the way back to the car!! Rope way is excellent, nice view from the summit. We did not have time to visit the temple, wished we had. Upon returning to the town by the river we had a lovely lunch of soba noodles and shaved ice in another restaurant. All in all a great place to stop for a few hours and walk around, following your nose - you can't go wrong! Lots of parking for 500yen per day.

a nice riverside area where you can do very easy rock climbing and hang out by the riverside. This is a novelty area where you can check out some of the interesting rock formations. You can also catch a boat ride from the boat company that operates short boat rides.

Iwadatami is a large raised rock bed spotted with natural ponds that runs parallel to the river, it is picturesque but by no means a compelling reason to travel great distances exclusively to see. I do love this place however and come often to relax and do water sports. There is also a fun summer festival if you get the timing right with lots of fireworks in the river. I really recommend it for if you enjoy nature and your passing throughout the area or are not located too far away. Definitely suitable for any type of traveler families, solo or otherwise. Also many fun water activities such as rafting available.

i visited to see Momiji in middle-Nobember.At first, I heard that the view of the place, `Iwa-datami' is good. But when we visited there, there is no so much turning the color. So we picked one of the panphret about the place. Then we went to the park near the Nagatoro station. There were a lot of beautiful Momiji. Near the staton, thre are old building. So I felt a historical atmosphere. But actually some restroom were dirty. There were no problem except for that. Actually we did'nt have the plan which place we want to see. But there is the place which some panphlet are put in front of Nagatoro station. So we didn't get lost. I had just a plan 'Go to Nagatoro', I visited to there with exchange students so this is really important for them. I could succeed this plan. We could have a great day.
