For the alpine route, we bought the tickets at the JR line office on the day itself in the morning for ¥9000, which covers all the transport required from Dentetsu Toyama station to Nagano station. Do note that the ticket is a one-way trip only....More

The ultimate objective of our trip to Japan and was not one bit disappointed. Departed on JR local train @ 720am from Takayama but the journey took ~ 2 hours reaching JR Toyama station. Walked for 2 minutes to the neighboring Dentatsu Toyama station to...More

I disagree with other reviewers. Absolutely do the day trip if your time in Japan is limited. Besides which, the idea of being stranded over night in the mountain accommodations that will make me pine for my beautiful hotel room in Tokyo is appalling. My...More

First of all : DON'T go from Tokyo the same day, you will likely not be able to do anything due to lack of time. We took the 9.00-ish express train from Toyama for 210 yen extra, and arrived at the first cable car station...More

The highlight of our trip. We did it in one day and took 7.5 hrs in all....Toyama towards Ogizawa. Spent 2.5 hrs in Murodo doing the snow walk/slide and walk around the lake in very leisurely pace. We did not spend much time at other...More

One of a kind experience with multiple mode of transport. Really awesome and amazing. The taller-than-a-bus ice wall is nothing that can be found elsewhere. The view from the top was breathtaking. 200% recommended.

We did Alpine route with my partner. Though the tickets were pretty costly, every dollar was worth it. The views are amazing. Felt like little happy kids inside the snow wall path. Would highly recommend to everyone who visit Japan.

30foot snow walls late in the spring! Gives you a slight glimpse of what the WALL north of winterfell feels like :) If you have a JR pass, this mountain pass, dam sightseeing, tram/gondola rides and a walk at the snow wall will set you...More
