Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hatenashi Village is a settlement of farm houses along the UNESCO designated Kumano pilgrimage trails which connect significant religious sites in the Kansai region. The pathway itself has been used for over 1000 years!
The atmosphere at Hatenashi is indescribable. The clean and peaceful air along with the picturesque sights combine to give you the overall feeling that you stepped back in time 1000 years. It is beautifully preserved, and a treasure to get a sense of the "old..old Japan".
The residents there work the land, and grow their own rice, and dry their own persimmons. There is a plump koi there that is almost 100 years old, and outgrowing it's pond.
Parking is a short walk away, and there are no crowds! Hatenashi allows you to experience a step back in time, without having to do the full pilgrimage trail. One of my favorite stops in the area.

Hanashi Village is a village located along the Kumano Kodo Kohechi Route, a World Heritage Site. When I visited, clouds were rising from the ground, creating a scene that resembled a sea of clouds. It was a very fantastic scenery. The scenery looks like it has been left behind from modern times. However, just preserving this scenery requires a huge amount of effort. I am humbled by the extraordinary efforts of the local people. In addition, there are still people living in the Hanashi village. (The area other than the ``road'' is private property of the residents.) If you visit, please be careful not to disturb them.

Probably it will stay in my mind as one of the best experience I had in Japan. Getting to know local culture, tea preparation rituals, beauty of mountains. You’ll get more than expected ;)

We drove up there and then went by foot to have a picknick.
The sun came out, took a few pics.
The view is obviously fantastic.
Mountains everywhere.
It also has historic significance and is a world heritage.

I love visiting Hatenashi settlement. When I visit there, I feel like I'm in the village in the sky. The mountain view is beautiful and so is the settlement.
It seems like every seasons have different atmosphere and I want to visit here in the all seasons!
Best way to visit here is leave your car at Hotel Subaru and hike the Kumanokodo Kohechi route. You won't regret!
