Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Toretore Market is a place where you can see all kinds of fresh seafood. For first timers, please be reminded not to place stuff in the trolley and then walk around as if it is a supermarket. Once you made your selection, pay the seller and then carry on with your shopping. Outside Toretore market is a restaurant where you can openly grill your fresh food. Just wait for the employees to help you find a spot from your group. Note: Be careful of flying and exploding mussels or shell food. Because of the heat in the grill, they tend to pop and surprise everyone. For hygienic people, yes, there are lavatories that can be used to wash your hands. Been here only once but once I return, I will definitely go back here!

We took local bus to the market. It is just few minutes walk from the bus stop. There were many tourists during lunch hours. The market was clean with wide walkway between rows of vendors. For fresh cheap seafood, you can select fillet of fish and they will slice it to sashmi. You can also purchase the seafood and go outside to gas grill BBQ. It costs 300 yen per person for the BBQ. The price includes paper plates and folks. My family enjoyed the BBQ a lot. If you have no time for BBQ, there is a food court for beef don, noodles, cooked seafood don or sushi. We ended up spending 2 hours there.

Cheap fresh seafood ! Much cheaper and better quality than the other seafood market closer to Wakayama city and other markets in Osaka ! Huge food court area and paid barbeque area as well to grill your fresh seafood ! Highly recommended if you are in the area !

The market is located right at the tore tore ichiba bus stop, accessible by the Meiko bus. Spent half a day at this market. They have a huge variety of local snacks and food souvenirs, the dried food section, as well as the fresh seafood section.

You can also time your visit for the tuna auction, and get your hands to try some of that fresh tuna sashimi too.

There is a section beside the market with he bbq facilities with a small fee per pax if you are using it. You can buy you seafood - lobsters, crabs, fish, oysters, clams, etc. and bring them over for grilling.

Would definitely recommend checking this place out, and also getting some of those local produce back.

I’ve never been to a cleaner and fresher market than this one! Fresh and live marine products, meats and packed foods abound here. Feeling hungry? There’s more than one fastfood stalls to choose from. I went for the tunagi rice meal and it was good! This is a showcase of Japan’s quality products at its best.

This market is a must-go for those going to Shirahama!! You can find lots of fresh seafood, sushi, sashimi, fruits and drinks in the wet market. There are also food stalls selling cooked food (e.g. noodles and rice), wine, icecream as well as other products and souvenirs of Shirahama and Wakayama on the other side. We bought quite some shrimps, scallops and grilled them at the BBQ stall next door!! They were all very fresh and delicious. The BBQ stall charges ¥300 per person.

This market is easily accessible by Meiko buses which stop at various locations in Shirahama, such as Shirahama Beach, Shirahama Station, etc. Good for spending a few hours here for lunch!!
