We loved the Art House Project at Honmura. Walking along really narrow laneways to visit each small exhibit a delightful way to spend half a day. unfortunately there are No Camera signs everywhere. In someways this is good as many people can be very intrusive...More

Clever strategy for offering artists an opportunity to transform a site into an artistic creation. The results are quite interesting and varied. An enjoyable afternoon stroll to take in the houses.

Loved these houses. They’re all so different and interesting in unique ways. We walked the whole island and loved walking around the various houses exploring all the streets and poking our noses into open doors to catch glimpses of beautiful gardens proudly offered for views,...More

This town is half way between the ferry terminal and Benesse House. It takes about 10 minutes to bike ride here from the ferry. IMO these 6 installations were the highlight of the island. Each is brilliant, intellectuallly accessible yet thought-provoking. Plays on light and...More

These made me feel either I was missing something or I was being had. I don’t like the Tate modern or Sydney Contemporary either. Another poorly signposted place so more fun doing orienteering around Honmura than finding the art. Except for the James Turrell.

We did the trip to Naoshima to see the different art exhibitions. Overall it is nicely done, but as soon as you go off track it is a bit boring.

I don't know any other way of getting there...but it's worth it. I stayed on Shikoku but would recommend staying on Naoshima.
