The entire trail is a 4 hour trek so prepare yourself. We had to turn back at a certain point. Wear good shoes as some of the paths can be dangerous and are often just walking up rocks and boulders thats appear to be like...More

Quite well maintained, beautiful, hot and humid. Totally worth it! Easy to moderate level. You can get here via private car or bus. Bring water, but can refill in some of the streams.

The word awesome is totally overused these days. It needs to be reserved for places like this! Seeing the Yakusugi (a term reserved for trees greater than 1000 years old on Yakushima) in their habitat, along with all of the peaceful, exquisite forest, is quite...More

I didn't do the full long hike (wish I would have), but the shorter hike was still nice. I would definitely go to Yakusugi Land (150 minute) instead if I had to choose though.

One of the my favourite walks that I have ever done. We did it during winter and the combination of moss and snow was phenomenal.

Hi, there is a bus leaving Miyanoura port at 10:22, you will be at shiratani Unsuikyo at 10:55. I suggest you either take a taxi there and to the airport to cut some time. I've looked at the time tables of the buses but it's... More

The most time efficient hydrofoil is the one that leaves at 7:45, as Marloes mentioned. After a brief stop in Ibusuki, it arrives at Miyanoura at 9:45am. You must be at the ferry terminal 30 minutes before departure. You... More
