Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Go to the turtle tour at night where you will see loggerheads laying eggs. Amazing experience!

This beach is very beautiful, calm and clean!
This beach is well-known as the beach at sea turtles lay down eggs.
If you are lucky, you can see sea turtles lay down eggs!
And if you are super lucky, you can help releasing pretty small sea turtle baby to the sea.

We were on the beach the last evening of the sea turtle season (hoping to possibly see a late comer before the beaches close down for actual tours) but while we saw no turtles, we did have some beautiful vistas. It was so relaxing and watching the sunset was just stunning.

A very beautiful beach where sea turtles will come at night to nest and hatch. During the daytime it is very very hot and sunny and the water so crystal blue.

I was there during the season turtles lay eggs. Local people are trying hard to maintain the population of turtles and run turtle viewing sessions so that tourists won't disturb turtles laying eggs, which means that you cannot just go and look at them by yourselves (in theory you can as locals cannot stop you from doing it but you feel you really shouldn't). It costs 1,500 yen per person to attend a viewing session, but when you realise how hard the locals and volunteers work, you feel the money is well spent. The night we went, we saw two turtles (apparently much less than usual) laying eggs and it was a beautiful experience. Next morning, I returned to the beach and sure enough there were turtles' footprints.

The west side of Yakushima, centered around Nagata, reminds one of California's Big Sur coastline -- rugged, and remote, steep mountain plunging into the sea, waterfalls and wildlife everywhere. It even has a lonely lighthouse on a pinnacle. Finding a nice ocean vista and simply watching the sunset is a transcendental experience.

The beach is beautiful and there was hardly anyone there when we visited. Argee with the previous reviewer about bringing an umbrella and drinks. We spent three blissful hours here just reading and basking in the sun.

Are ther guides you can book the same day for sea turtles watching? When I do an internet search only Yes Yakushima comes up and they are ¥8000 for a sea turtle tour. I saw another reviewer mention they got a guide for ¥1500. How do I get that?
Written 9 June 2017
It may be too late but my answer is:
the one for ¥8000 is all inclusive such as picking up from or to your hotel and driving etc, and the one for ¥1500 is only participation fee to see the turtle birth or hatch. And most important is the high season ends at the end of August. Actually I saw only the little trace of just-hatched turtles yesterday. It is kind of relaxed moment but you, from far, should come next year in the high season. I hope it will help.
