The way up to Axalp is an adventure by itself, 30 min from Brienz. Once reached we were rewarded by a breathtaking view of the mountains and the Lake below. There is a little shop that closes at 17.30 hr. The hiking trails are pretty and well marked.

There are many elements and activities available in Axalp. If you want to do a truly special, beautiful and unusual hike, they this one and prepare to be amazed. The hike is about an hour with some mild elevation changes and plenty of benches along the way for a rest. This trail has amazing wood carvings made after a devasting storm damaged many trees. The wood carving community used this opportunity to create wonderful art for all to see as they walk this trail. At the end of the trail is a park area and a small lake...that area is filled with beautiful art. It is an amazing hike. Take the bus up from Brienz. Make sure you check the return times.

We stayed in an airbnb for a few days. It had great views, walk up and down the mountain top was scenic and the view of lake Brienz from the mountain was just amazing. The blue color was something to see. We couldn't get enough of that view. I can go there again just for the view of the lake. Overall a great experience staying on Axalp.
