This interesting castle has lots to see in terms of the fantastic views from the old ruin and the interesting displays in a local museum plus general information about the past- Mary Stuart and also the local workhouse in subsequent times.

English Heritage castle, if you're not a member it's worth joining. Only £4.40 a month for an adult. Easy to park, beautiful picnic spots and there is almost always some event happening, jousting, medieval tournaments, open air theatre. Perfect for a family day out, you can walk around the ramparts, enjoy the view over the lake to the Tudor school.... More

Castle in spectacular setting owned by English Heritage. One of the great castles of Eastern England with many "theme days" during the season

Framlingham Castle is very striking as one approaches over the bridge but the lack of a keep and other medieval buildings on the other side of the gate is a little disappointing. As an historian, it is interesting to build up a picture of what was there, by using the clues in the walls but a model, such as the... More

We were coming to Suffolk in May to visit friends. When I booked the accomodation I found out that nearby Framlingham Castle had a 'Bloody Mary' weekend. My daughter was beside herself as she loves the tudors. The castle and the festival did not disappoint - it was fantastic. The lady that played Queen Mary did not drop out of... More

Recently I was about to take up a job in Framlingham and thought I would check out the area on the Sunday. I arrived by car at Framlingham village - the quintessential English village. Olde this & olde that. Yes the really Olde England! As I looked around, it quickly became apparent that this place had a Castle. An olde... More

This is a fantastic place to visit but we timed it badly, a small number of children on a school visit did really impact on our enjoyment of the whole castle. We couldn't access the exhibition space as it was too noisy, it was a real shame as there was no escape either. All the staff were really helpful and... More

Wouldn't bother wasting the money on the entrance fee. Full of school trips. You can walk around the grounds without paying

Framlingham Castle is an example of something that I thought did not exist - historic kitsch. The thought that an ancient stone castle could be embellished with a number of fancy brick chimneys more suited to a pile such as Hampton Court is wonderfully bizarre; this is only enhanced by the fact that just a couple of them were actually... By chance we went during a weekend of activities in the castle, which were terrific; tents & music, reenactment of Mary Tudor's stay, man-on-man combat with medieval weaponry, and best of all the explanation & recreation of execution techniques and stories. All done with humour, excellent performers and of interest to all ages. Otherwise, you can walk round the walls,... More
