The ticket price is 215.000Rp and 315.000Rp in holidays. What government think about this strange price I don't know. But I exactly know what seeing miserable deers and monkeys, which walk around the 'nature park' and swarm in the tons of peoples' plastic trash, I will never pay for this. Plastic everywhere and animals eat it. Wake up, government and local people, make something with this. Don't think if international tourists come to Pangandaran they will pay any price, what you set. Blockage policy will not attract tourists and will not improve the situation on the island. Think about good example of neighbor island. For tourist it's even impossible to get to the beach with sunken ship without payment for entrance to the park. Ships, which take local passengers to the beach don't take tourists.

The ordinary beach in Pangandaran is not enjoyable as it is full of boats and loads of garbage. So we wanted to go to the white sand beaches in the reserve, but what a rip off!! The entrance to the park costs 240 000 IDR per person (last year it was something like 7000). You have to pay an entrance fee to the town at the gates swell (only if you are a tourist, if course). Then, there is really nothing to do in this town during weekdays, it's a like a ghost town. We felt ripped off by all these tourist schemes!

Once, it was a very beautiful national park. Everything was so natural with fresh air, clean environment, and unique brackish water creatures. Now everything has almost gone, but pile of trash and writings on stones, rocks, walls, facilities. Trees and rivers are still there but not as natural as it used to be, especially along the path from the entrance to White Sand Beach (Pasir Putih) which also not as beautiful as it was. You need to walk further to enjoy the remaining natural beauty of this national park. You can ask for a guide or walking by yourself; but please be extra careful of wild animals like monkeys and deer ~ they can be dangerous when disturbed. Do not bring food because it will attract monkeys, they could take it by force! And don't forget to apply lotion to avoid bugs or mosquito bite.

Hello, I would like to share my experience visiting this area. There are so many tourism destination, but no supporting infrastructure. The road access is very terrible. It's even like off road journey, luckily if you use 4x4 wd vehicle.
Cagar alam pananjung across pangandaran beach, when I visited 2 years ago was still beautifull, nice view, clean, with white sand, a lot of monkey was playing.
Now, it becomes so dirty, many garbages, so terrible.
Green canyon is not nice as before that I keep on my memories.
The only one left that is still beautifull is Madasari beach, perhaps because not more tourist even know about this place.

We went on a guided walk with Aep, Pangadaran's own 'Dr Doolittle' who definitely talked to the animals! As well as calling over deer, monkeys and a porcupine in a cave, he showed us monitor lizards, bats, flying squirrels and a hornbill. We walked through the cave to a secluded beach, where we sat and watched the sun set with monkeys quietly sat near us. Great experience!

I had been here before on two occasions, first the entrance fee was 9.000 rp, then 30.000 rp, and now a massive 210.000 rp (for foreigners only...and on weekdays and holidays even more, 300.000!)...totally not worth it, but i was with friends who hadn't been there before so i humoured them...it's basically just a walk in a forest along some paths, you see some deer and some monkeys (the common type that you see along the road begging for food in many places in indonesia)...having been to about 2 dozen national parks in indonesia over the years, this one is the least interesting...just skip it!

Pangandaran National Park (Taman Wisata Alam) occupies the headland at the southern end of town. You can easily spend all afternoon here if you get a good guide. I had a brilliant guide called Apeh - who knew the ways of the forest and mimicked animal noises to coax them out. We saw black monkeys & a scorpion. Deer at the entrance will eat food out your hand, but the brown monkeys further in are less friendly and will grab anything.
Deep in the forest you find caves and a Japanese bunker from WW2. Parat cave is one of many where shuffling Porcupines will approach you from the dark depths. Bring a torch.
Note : photos of a watery gorge on this site are not Pangandaran National Park - but Green Canyon which is 25km away.

very sad place to see. the monkeys and deers.. including the stags..were eating out of rubbish bins outside... poorly maintained...loads of guides touting for private business.. not sure how much money goes back into the park.. and a weird deal with boatmen let you get to the park for free if you pay the boatmen a small amount of money... very strange..

Pangandaran Beach is actually very beautiful, but not professionally managed, garbage everywhere make this beach slum. Be careful with the brokers that offer boat rentals, they will offer to notice the beauty of the marine park by showing photographs were made a few years ago, you will be disappointed because you only see the damage coral.

We didn't spend alot of time here - just walked around for like two hours. Saw a lot of monkeys and some big lizards. Don't pay the ridiculous entrance fee of 210'000 per person. Get a boat in front of the park entrance to drop you off at the beach then its only 50'000 per person with return. Normally I'm all about supporting parks - but they changed the price from 7'000 to 210'000 for tourists. That's just a ripoff.
