Very local to us always good for a dog walk to complete a lap of the woods. Very good ant time of year always different depending on the seasons. There is also a wildlife trust centre if you need a cuppa.

It is open all year round - the woods and reserve that is. The visitors centre is run by Essex Wildlife so usual opening hours but check their website for specicific times.
