Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a beautiful place with some well created vistas and lots of varieties of waterlilies in flower. We ate on the terrace of the café overlooking the lakes, cake and tea when we got there and sandwiches later. All very nice and the sandwiches were freshly prepared. It is hard to realise how close roads etc are when one in walking round the gardens. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Recently moved to Dorchester and decided to do the 'touristy thing" before starting the new job. Wowzers! This place blew us away! Firstly I must say the lunch we had in the cafe was delicious and great value for money. The gardens themselves are awesome and this place is well worth a visit, believe me!

I wouldn't bother, 20min walk for £23 cash only. We has to walk round twice just to make up for the long journey, was told to be careful with the edge of the pond because its so popular!! Two of the ponds were closed off, save your money.

We tried to visit from 30 miles away today. Arrived at 1015, enjoyed coffee in the café then went to buy tickets for the garden. Card machine wasn't working so we had to drive to find a cash machine. On our return the car park was full and a not very helpful lady just kept saying 'we're going to have to close the garden'. She said it is usually less busy after lunch so we drove into Weymouth for a while. When we came back cars had parked outside so we parked there too and walked past the sign that simply said that the garden was full. By the ticket counter the same lady was telling people that the footfall numbers had reached the daily limit so no more tickets would be available.
I don't feel inclined to bother traveling there again.
Suggestions:
1. Allow people to buy garden tickets in café (card machine there was working).
2. Put a clear sign on the gate apologizing that the garden was closed for the day/ no more entry rather than just 'full' as that suggested that there might be spaces later
3. Adopt a more friendly/apologetic attitude
4. Plan ahead for such eventualities! Better than just shrugging shoulders!
5. When a TV channel films in a location like this they should give advice about coping with the extra business that would, inevitably, follow the screening.
6. Selling only advance tickets might be a useful strategy as, once the limit has been reached, no further tickets would be sold and no one would waste time and petrol traveling there for nothing.

The Water Lillies and Gardens are absolutely stunning! Why the 2 stars then? Having visited today (Aug 23) my wife and I were both stunned by the way we were spoken to. I was making my way out for the STRICT 4pm closing time when a very over the top officious lady with grey hair exclaimed aggressively how she "doesn't have the energy to keep chasing people out of the garden!!!" I had not seen her approaching at the time and her sudden appearance made me jump so much that I nearly fell in the lake. We were honestly stunned by her sustained aggressive manner and tone which there was absolutely no need for. I reminded her we were paying customers and that we were making our way out for 4pm. However this did not stop her practically route marching us out out of the garden - so eager to get rid of their paying customers!! Needless to say this experience left myself very stressed out and also ruined my otherwise lovely afternoon. It has left us feeling that we do not ever want to visit here again or recommend it to anybody. How anyone could treat and speak to their paying customers and expect to be successful in this way is truly bewildering. My advise is..if you visit....get out well before 4 or else!!!

We have wanted to come here for some time and finally managed it. This is a beautiful place to visit and one of the best value places around. The grounds are well laid out with a series of different sized ponds full of lillies. The bridges and trees add to the atmosphere. Most of the grounds are wheelchair-friendly although we would recommend not visiting with a wheelchair after a wet spell as it is grass underfoot. No hills though. The picnic area is a good idea although we suspect more tables could be useful on very busy days. The staff we met were very friendly too.

Very peaceful and beautiful place. Lunch was OK even though the lunch selection is limited to jackets or sandwiches, but the food quailty is very fresh. The lily ponds are lovely but could do with a few more shrubs surrounding the water lakes

The water gardens were peaceful and beautiful to walk around, with some lovely features along the way - bridge, gazebo etc. As stunning as the gardens are, it is perhaps a one hour visit, and the £11 admission charge seems a little steep and perhaps explains why it wasn’t busier. The cafe has wonderful views but the food was rather average. The lady on the desk was very friendly but we wish we had known about the annual membership!
