- JeonDaejeon, South Korea1 contributionplace to take picturesIf they want to take pictures with antique atmosphere, I’d suggest visiting Jeonju Hanok Village. There a many hanok, which gives some antique atmosphere. You can rent hanboks around you. In addition, you can purchase food, which is simply enjoyable at the nearby food stalls. It has the advantage of having many backgrounds where you can take pictures to make memory with your family or lover. However, if you don't like taking pictures, there are disadvantages that things to enjoy are drastically reduced. And the food sold at the stalls is a bit expensive compared to the quality or quantity. If you like taking pictures with the ambiance of hanoks, I highly recommend it.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 January 2024
- FarAway645576711561 contributiona great landscapeIf you ask me, the one place you really have to go to is Jeonju Hanok Village. Jeonju Hanok Village is one of the most famous tourist spots in Jeonju. Most of the buildings here are hanok. You can experience tradition by wearing hanbok, visiting cultural heritages, or participating in experience programs. When it comes to food, not only restaurants that serve Korean foods, but also various street foods are famous. Also, the landscape is great, which is suitable for taking good pictures. Especially, the night view is beautiful, so I recommend you to walk on the street at night.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 January 2024

Much of the ancient town has been transformed into a tourist haven, where shops renting out traditional costumes dominate the streetscape. Many visitors choose to rent these costumes to capture themselves in extravagant attire - quite amusing, actually. I wonder if South Korea's booming film industry is influencing this trend, where everyday people aspire to star in fictional dramas themselves? It's highly recommended to explore the less touristy side streets, which exude charm. The most noticeable features are the tube tiled roofs with sloping curved corners, raised floors and sliding doors made of wood and paper. Other than the roofs, the buildings are made predominantly of timber, which gives the houses a very charming look. Although many of the houses have converted to shops, cafes and restaurants to serve the huge flux of tourists. Many of the houses remain residential and just adds to the charm. There’s also several cultural and crafts performances and documentaries which are worth checking out. The tourist information office near the car park has times. Buildings worth checking out include Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Pungnammun Gate, Jeonju Hyanggyo Confucian School and the museums to the south-west of the village. It’s really worth staying for at least a couple of nights in a traditional hanok house to get the full experience.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 17 May 2024

I chose to come to Jeonju because of its traditional hanok village and I was not disappointed. It’s a right choice to do. I took KTX train from Seoul to Jeonju and continues by bus until arrived in this beautiful village. My hotel was at the beginning of the hanok village and I did not have idea that on my way finding my hotel I actually was passing some alleys of the hanok village. It’s very beautiful and picturesque, I took a lot of photos here. Many people rented traditional hanbok dress and walked around the village to take pictures of themselves. It’s a really nice place to sit, sip your drink, enjoy your foods or just watch people go by. Jeonju is a small town, calm and quiet but has its own charm maybe because of the hanok village. You don’t need many days, it’s good for a day or two.

If you are in Korea and miss this opportunity to visit Jeonju Hanok Village you will do yourself a disservice. Korea being a very modern country this opportunity to step into the past should not be missed. Remember though that this is a MUST see place for Koreans as well and in summer is very busy.
The area with all the old buildings has a Catholic church, still in use, to the Gyeonggijeon Shrine dating back 1000 years. You can rent a Hanbok or traditional wear for the day and the roads were filled with young people dressed in these traditional garments. Every type of food is on offer and the prices are all affordable. This is a must see whilst in Korea, if you don't have the time........make the time.

Just south of the modern city of Jeonju is the Hanok Village, which has about eight hundred traditional houses, most of which are now guesthouses. The rest have been converted into shops, restaurants, cafes and museums. Some of them are still inhabited. Gradually restored, sometimes too immaculately, the village paints a picture of architectural unity with its sea of rooftops and narrow alleys.

It was very nice because there was a lot to see and eat and it was clean.
Parking lot management is very unfriendly
People who book a hotel get a 50% discount on parking.
I'm a bit lost on how to operate it since it can only be called by phone.
An older man shouts for help
I wish they had trained the parking attendants, but even though the beginning was good, the ending was not so good so I gave up.

I would like to write about the work of the Jeonju tourist information center. I didn’t find a separate topic, so I’m writing here.
Upon arrival in the city, I got to Hanok Village and turned to the tourist information center for a map of the area and information. The representative of the center told me in detail about the sights of the village and pointed out the main objects on the map.
In addition, at my request, he printed out information about the bus schedule to another city that I was going to visit. He also told me how to get to the intercity bus station in Jeonju, from which the buses go.
I am very grateful to him for all the information, as I was unable to find information about intercity buses in English on the Internet. I believe that it is very important for foreign tourists to receive information in English about attractions and public transport, as 99% of the information is only in Korean.

If you ask me, the one place you really have to go is ‘Jeonju Hanok Village’. This is a tourist village where you can see ‘Hanok’ which is Korean traditional architecture. There are many other tourist attractions around this place. So, it is convenient to move, and it does not take long time to do sightseeing. Also, there are many cafes. Among a lot of cafes, I recommend going to Hanok teahouse where you can drink tea in an oriental mood. Furthermore, you can rent ‘Hanbok’, Korean traditional costume, in this place. If you’d rather try something different, wearing this costume might be worth a shot. It will be very photo-worthy experience, so it is well worth a wear. But, if sightseeing is your thing, I don't recommend it. Because the costume may be inconvenient to move around.

If you go to Jeonju, you must visit Jeonju Hanok Village. The whole village is a low-rise Hanok village, which is perfect for feeling the Korean atmosphere. There are a variety of street foods and many well-prepared Korean traditional dishes, so you can enjoy delicious trips. The best experience was a half-day Hanbok experience. There are several Hanbok rental shops, so please look around and try on pretty Hanboks that you like. I also recommend you to visit Gyeonggijeon Shrine, which is a great place to take many photos. To feel the beauty of Korea, Jeonju Hanok Village is perfect.

Hi,
How am i getting to Jeonju from Incheon International Airport by bus? what are the bus option i have?
Written 25 September 2018
Hi,
You can use the Daihan Express bus from Incheon to Jeonju. The bus goes from both passenger terminals. You can find more info on the Daihan website. Unfortunately, I cannot include the link here. Just try to Google „Daihan Limusine Korea“ (no spelling mistake, they write it like this).
The ride takes about 4 - 4.5 hours and costs 31000 KRW. The bus is very comfortable. The driver will stop about halfway for refreshments, toilet etc. From Jeonju Terminal to Hanook village it’s just a 10 min. Taxi ride.
Have a good trip!

I planned to stay at hanok guesthouse within the jeonju hanok village. May I know if taxi could drive me direct to the guesthouse in the village or no cars is allowed in the village itself?

Hi. Taxis can go as close as possible to most places. Some times, between the road and the entrance there are a few meters you need to walk. Ask the guest house owner how far is the door to the road....

Hi. I'm sorry for the delayed response. Jeonju is a great area with lots of sights for the whole family. We stayed at Gaeunchae Hanok and the owner speaks English and can give lots of hints where to go. I don't know if the whole Hanok can accommodate 12 people but it's worth asking. I'm pretty sure he had about 5-6 rooms. Book asap wherever you decide to stay because 12 is a lot for most places to accommodate. Hope this helps... have a great time! It should be beautiful in May!
