If you're in Port Severn; you would be remiss if you didn't take the opportunity to visit Lock 45 to see a boat or 2 passing through. Their (small) tourism building is clean with an abundance of informative literature (and video).

No matter how many times you have watched a boat traverse a lock, it's fun to watch. On top of that, the Parks Canada staff at the lock are super-friendly and happy to show off the operation of the lock.

Very interesting to see how the lock works. My wife and I were on a walk, staying at Christie's Inn and Spa and watched 3 boats go through. Very cool

Very interesting place to visit. We enjoyed the relaxing feel of watching the boats load up and then the lock in action. The mechanics of the lock are awe inspiring since they are so old.

It is amazing to see the Lock 45 in operation. The boats lining up to lock thru, the lock staff directing boat traffic and operating the controls. While I could have walked to the other side of Port Severn by a road bridge, I walked...More
