Interesting exhibitors at centre with helpful member of staff able to offer advise & answer questions. Walks themselves were shorter with reasonable paths although steep, uneven and muddy in places so recommend good shoes! Views were stunning and guided points of the trail very interesting. Worth a visit, especially if you don't want to do the full mountain trail.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 26 September 2023
- geismomSinking Spring, Pennsylvania1,899 contributionsThe Buzzard Trail has Beautiful ViewsThe visitor center has a large car park that is easily accessed. There was no one manning the center, but there are quite a number of interpretive boards, one of which lists several trails, along with expected duration, that all begin at the visitor center. We soon learned that there were markers in various places with a symbol associated for a particular trail. We chose the Buzzard trail, which was a short, circular loop that climbed partway up the mountain, and then back down again. The views along the way were beautiful. There are quite a number of placed stone steps to climb or descend in both directions. But, it really was not too taxing. I had walking sticks to use if needed just to secure my footing, but my husband needed none.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 September 2023
- JatinPatel114 contributionsStunning sceneryThe Woodland track was absolutely amazing. Stunning views are visible. We're not expert hikers and the difficulty level of this was perfect for us. I'm sure that hikers with a better ability would be more suited towards the mountain trail. The free guide booklet tallied up with the checkpoints along the trail making for a very interesting and informative hike. This is located about 55 miles west of the city of Inverness, and about 3 miles northwest of the village of Kinlochewe. We were driving on our way to Torridon.
We didn't intend on spending much time there so we had no plans to visit the Nature Reserve, which may be nice. We just wanted to stop at the visitor's centre.
The sign outside the visitor's centre says that it is open from 10AM-5PM every day. However, it was closed when we were there at about 3PM. Go figure.

Large free car park with view over loch. Good place for a picnic. Enjoyable walk described in the leaflets available in the kiosk which takes about 30 minutes (also a much longer walk right to the top if you have time and inclination)

We had a stopover at the carpark to stretch our legs and ended up walking a beautiful trail. At the carpark is living a deer, which you should not feed. But as soon as you take out something to eat for yourself he/she comes over to get some as well. Which of course we did not do. Nevertheless, this gave us a great opportunity to take some photos :)

Great walks of various distances from the two visitor centres, plenty of leaflets to see the routes although the marker posts are plentiful. Worth driving to the lakes to start other walks. The views are spectacular with opportunities to see wild life.

I stopped here while on my NC500 trip. I took about an hour out to do the Woodland walk. It was quite muddy at times, but still pleasant. Some good views at the top too. There was also the option of a more ambitious mountain trail. Either way, both were well marked. Good views from the car park too.

Watch out for the clegs but the views are worth the bites! This is beautiful in all seasons and worth a trip whether doing a short woodland walk or a longer mountain climb.

If you would like to taste the experience of walking in the Highlands, and some incredible spectacular views then the Mountain Trail is for you. Although it climbs high onto the upper plateau of Beinn Eighe clear defined paths and waymarking cairns have been created so that you can enjoy the walk without the concern of navigation or difficult terrain. The views from the top over Loch Maree are spectacular and there is a free guide book that gives information about the different natural environments you are passing through. It is still a steep walk on rocky ground though so good boots are required, and for those who feel it is still a bit ambitious there are also two other trails the Woodland Trail and the Rhyming Trail which are less demanding. http://www.nnr-scotland.org.uk/beinn-eighe/visiting/trails/

We enjoyed a beautiful walk - the Buzzard trail - at the Beinn Eighe nature reserve. Stunning views on this well maintained path with plenty of benches to stop and enjoy it all. The centre itself also had a lot of interesting exhibits. Well worth a visit

Is it possible to see a bit of the reserve and some views or walk any trails after the visitor center is closed? I will arrive around 6PM and visitor center closes 5Pm but it will still be light for 2 more hours... ( I will visit Augut 24 or so)
Written 29 April 2018
Hi Theresa, I was there yesterday and the answer is YES. Instead of going to the visitor centre drive two miles North to the next car park on the left (think its called Glas Leiter). There you will find an information board and dispensers for two free maps. I did the Woodland Trail walk (an easy one hour walk) but if you are feeling energetic there is a longer and steeper walk called the 'Mountain Trail').

Hi Apologies, I just noticed your question now. You can walk trails after the centre has closed.
