Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Drive to and from central business district on highway is confusing as entrance and car parks are not clearly marked. Wrong turn will take you to 2 kilometres of no turn to airport. Inside, there are flora that is neglected and not watered properly.

Overall we had a good time at the gardens, although they were not stand out like Adelaide or Perth. The main gardens were probably our least favourite part . What we did like was the Botanic Gardens conservatory with the beautiful butterflies, pitcher plants and beautiful flowers. We also liked the rainforest boardwalks to the lakes and Chinese pagoda. Plenty of information boards and good signage, well maintained throughout.

we attended the free information session tour. It was a great small group, led by a wonderful guide. It was interactive, informative and a wonderful way to spend the morning. A thanks to the other attendees, who added their wonderful knowledge and spirit to the tour.

Lots of old large trees and types. Even the giant and king ferns can be found here. Well worth the visit. Spare 3-4 hours for the full experience. I was surprise that it’s larger and have a lot more varieties of plants than Brisbane.

A short bus trip from Cairns city centre delivers you to the entrance of the gardens.Through the entrance turn left to the outdoor cafe where the food is excellent ,the best iced coffee around.
Continuing to the left along the meandering pathways you will be surrounded by trpical plants and rain forrest trees many with magnificent flowers .Watch your step you may encounter small lizards and various insects on the path.A large variety of birds can be heard singing in the tree tops. There are shady areas of lawn to sit in the cool and watch the world go by.The visitor centre is also worth a stop and there is a cafe and souvenir shop.Across the road there is a boardwalk going down to the lakes lots of friendly and not so friendly wildlife to be seen so be carefull.
This attraction is well worth the visit particularly if you are into plants and flowers.

This park is a Tropical Rain-Forest right smack bang in Cairns. Public transport will take you the park gates. There are very easy walking, bicycle and hiking paths & trails, picnic, BBQ & Playground facilities, public toilets with disabled facilities, Information & gift shop, Arts centre and cafe. Thousands of exotic tropical flowering plants, lily ponds, butterflies and birds of every colour and description can be easily photographed here. Tree frogs, lizards, snakes and salt water crocodiles can also be seen. There are many places to visit in here. Centenary Lakes & Rain Forest Boardwalk, Gondwanan Heritage Garden, The Lowland Swamp Forest, Rain Forest Boardwalk, Freshwater Lake, Melaleuca Wetlands, Bamboo Forest and of course Saltwater Lake. Visitors are well advised to heed the warning signs at all times, as crocodiles bigger than 2 meters regularly cross through the swamps and wetlands. So be careful and enjoy this amazing place.

I thought I'd do my morning walk around the botanic gardens and I'm absolutely blown away by how stunning they are. The usual various segments are an easy walk and so well maintained. The fresh air is amazing. Butterflies everywhere. I'm in heaven. Wish this was my garden as I'd be able to enjoy it everyday. Great place to bring a picnic rug and book and just relax. What a credit to Cairns!

An absolute pleasure to visit and can not believe there was no entry fee. Beautiful place to stroll around, take your lunch and sit in the park or eat at the cafe. Take a walk on one of the hiking tracks. Easy to catch a bus from centre of Cairns to gardens.

These Botanical Gardens are full of history and truly beautiful. You can relax, enjoy nature and take in everything at your own pace.

The gardens are abundant in wildlife, we saw a great variety of birds, butterflies and even a wallaby with a joey.

We were there on a particularly wet day but still found plenty of shelter when the heavens opened under the canopy of the superb trees.

Do not miss doing this, it's educational and delightful for all ages.
