Naulakha means navalakaha - nine lakhs is the cost occured to built this palace in 18 th century. Inside the palace there are jharokhas, spiral staircase, carved arches, and courtyard.
Part of the 1st floor houses a museum and exhibits the toy car, pictures, trophies and library.
Palace has overview of the gondal river.

This was interesting. We arrived late in the afternoon but the host came out to greet us and offered to give us the tour of the different collections.
The collections are wonderful. We then went up into the palace main hall that looks over the river.
As evening set in the 'call to prayer' at the mosque next door began. We were just metres from the loud speakers, and could really 'feel the moment'
We moved outside the gate on dark ... we sat at the Kailash chai stall, and watched the goings on Moti Bazar Road, and the evening ceremony at the Hindu temple Shri Perna Gajanan
My tip ... get there early enough to enable a casual look at what the palace has on offer, and time your visit with end of day ceremonies

This was presented to us as the "Nana Lakh" Palace, meaning the palace that cost 9 lakh rupees. The original palace of the Maharanas of Gondal, the buildings are beautifully finished with intricate stonework mixing Hindu and Muslim architectural influences. We looked briefly at the collections on show in the former stables and outbuildings; horse and bullock-drawn vehicles; Dinky cars and toys; china and procelain - quite eccentric conglomerations! The Durbar Hall and other room with original furnishings were also interesting. As we left, a car drew up in the courtyard, and we were introduced to the current Maharanee, a very gracious lady. I don't think that visitors could be guaranteed this particular experience, but it is a lovely memory for us!

Interesting 18th century palace overlooking the river. Worth the visit.
The palace has many beautiful stone carvings and we visited the various rooms such as the assembly room. Also furniture, some treasures and the famous weighing scale that measured the maharadja against gold on his jubilee.
The « women quarters « are also to visit and let us guess what life as a woman was in those time.
The servants quarters host the various delightful collections such as toys, minerals , carriages etc…

This palace is a symbol of the heritage of Gondal - during the days of the Maharajas. It is well maintained and turned into a museum visited by many tourists to date. There are entry fees charged to view certain sections and photography is allowed so remember to take your camera with. Bollywood movie shots are often taken here so it is frequented by the movie fraternity as well. For those passionate about vintage cars, you will have a treat here....

Good palace which is converted into a private museum. Ticket price is Rs.110 per head. This amount is too much for that palace. Camera is also charged. Only one man run around ticketing, showing the rooms, locking it again and following the tourists. Short tempered manager doesn't give ample time to look around. Though we paid Rs 110 per head, we couldn't enjoy everything.

Disappointed to be turned away from here and the Orchard Palace. Nothing else to do to kill time until the afternoon reopening time. Orchard Palace has no restaurant on site and were told it was not possible to wait on the property.

One of the palace belongs to royal family of former Gondal state. Most of the part is now converted into museum for public.
To visit different sections, you need to pay separately... 40 to 60 rupees.
There are good collectives on display but the high entry fee is not justified.. Like they charge 50 rs for mahal visit +another 50 rs even for mbl (photography).
Many shooting of hindi movies took place here.. The recent one was R.. Rajkumar.
