After a grueling journey through the worst road imaginable this place appears not less than paradise. Advice not to take the Goti road, there is a road from Tropical retreat that is good, very scenic and no traffic at all.
A boat ride, preferably the ones without engine is recommended.
Take the longer route, costs around Rs. 600 for the entire boat. Its fun and they even allow you to row the boat.
The best time to visit is during the rainy season.

Green and serene

Bhandardara Lake is the creation of Bhandardara Dam. It is 2 hrs journey from Igatpuri. The road to Bhandardara dam surrounds this lake. During monsoon all the falls become live and is a delight to view as it it falls from high level in the green forest. One negative point is local administration has not developed any restaurant service within this area. Otherwise the place has got good tourist value. One can go to the top of the hills to get a birds eye view of the lake.

A calm & placid lake in Bhandardara
Aug 2018 • Family
Had visited this lake in Bhandardara a long back ago. This lake is surrounded by hills and is filled by the river Pravara.

This lake is a popular tourist attraction in Bhandardara. It is an ideal destination for boating. Next to this level, one can visit the Wilson Dam which the oldest earthern dam in India built in 1910. It is an ideal place for campers to camp near this lake. There is no entry fee, but there is a minimum fee for boating. The best time to visit this lake is during the monsoon season as there is a rise in the water level. The water level goes down during the summer season. Cool breeze blows near this lake.

This lake is an ideal place for families, couples as well as friends. It is a must visit place and should not be missed while in Bhandardara.

Bhandardara is a beautiful place to visit. It is ideal for camping and small treks. There are less hills to climb. Network coverage is very poor over there.

Water levels low due to summer. But very calm and peaceful. Boating facilities available. Benches placed around allow you to sit and soak the lake. Backdrop of mountains is interesting.

Water level receding doesn't make it as pretty a sight
Feb 2019 • Couples
With the water level receding, Bhandardara Lake wasn't as beautiful as it used to be.
Apparently the dam water hadn't been released for quite a few weeks leading to a lot of the lakebed being laid barren - making it not as pretty a sight.
While the arrangements made by Mr. Khade are noteworthy for the minimal amount being charged, I would say this wasn't as fulfilling an experience as I had expected it to be.
